Bishops Castle 5 2013 - Enter the Dragon
First topic message reminder :
To allow time for you guys & gals to save beer tokens & build up enough Brownie points etc a date of Saturday 8th June has been decided for BC5.
As usual the ride will be centered around Shropshire & Wales & peeps are welcome to join for just the rideout or to B&B/camp for both the Friday & Saturday nights with food in the local hostelries which will be announced in due course.
B&B's are aplenty & most will take a booking in advance without requiring payment untill the weekend in question so its always a good idea to book early as last year it got very busy with a local wedding taking up some of the B&B's we normally use.
Below is a link to the main places to stay all within easy walking distance & please just ask if we can offer any help or advice, The Claremont also have as well as B&B a property which can be shared by a number of peeps who may wish to reduce costs by sharing & if I remember correctly a garage they have allowed us to use for the bikes in the past.
The Foxholes Camp site have a Bunk house, Static Caravan & Camping available.
Thanks Nick & Ellie

I've had an email from Foxholes campsite, the Bunkhouse is not available for the 8th of June (Friday night) but is available for the Saturday night...
Looks like we will have to find other accommodation or get the tents out!!
Gutted!

Have you asked foxholes about the static caravan if its available?
Re: Bishops Castle 5 2013 - Enter the Dragon
I was thinking about Ellie but after speaking to Steve, He told me that there is one double bed and too very small singles (more kid sized).. So don't know what to do now really, I've rung all the B&B's but there don't seem to be any vacancies.....

Re: Bishops Castle 5 2013 - Enter the Dragon
Kev, did you ask about the Eco Cabin? 8 berth two bunk rooms, think 1 bunk each, a double room and a double sofa couch.
It's behind the static, so you possibly didn't see it from the bunkhouse.

Re: Bishops Castle 5 2013 - Enter the Dragon
Bah, humbug, That's where I was going to go .. bet that was the last one
It is a very nice place...
OK, so that leaves a few 'out in the cold'
I can't commit to anything at the moment, when I can know it'll be way too late.
What I'll do is try and see if the Eco Cabin is available and get a list going of interested sharers. If I find I have to bail, I'm happier with ditching maybe £40 rather than three times that.

Re: Bishops Castle 5 2013 - Enter the Dragon
Short answer is No
Longer one is, last time I tried it, around 11 years ago, bought a tent for the Welkom MotoGP, my inflatable mattress was anything but, it was close to 2C (that was extremely cold for me then) - needless to say I got close to zero sleep.
I've been grumpy once too often on a ride-out, no fun for any one.

Re: Bishops Castle 5 2013 - Enter the Dragon
Camping bike trips are great, (if you like that kind of thing), if I was able to do the staying over bit I'd gladly tent it, unfortunately I'm only going to make the ride out which is going to be a long day... Wish I was able to do the do it, loving the great outdoors, even though I was wetter than a goldfish's wet bits by the time I got home today

There is other accommodation in the area but a short taxi ride away, if a few of you clubbed in together maybe the extra cost wouldn't be too bad?

Re: Bishops Castle 5 2013 - Enter the Dragon
I don't mind cabin it, but I've got a 4 man tent also that can sleep 6, 2x2man bedrooms and square centre with a little porch way. All wraps up into a small holdall which I can tie down to the rear seat so no problems transporting it.
A bit like this one if anyone fancies sharing.
If enough booze flows we can snuggle up to stay warm

Re: Bishops Castle 5 2013 - Enter the Dragon
The Eco Cabin is available £180 for the two nights irrespective of how many people are in there. Assuming 6 people that'll be £15 per night, or just over a tenner a day if the place is filled.
Camp or Cabin? I may be up against stiff competition with Stu's tent though
