Bishops Castle 5 2013 - Enter the Dragon
First topic message reminder :
To allow time for you guys & gals to save beer tokens & build up enough Brownie points etc a date of Saturday 8th June has been decided for BC5.
As usual the ride will be centered around Shropshire & Wales & peeps are welcome to join for just the rideout or to B&B/camp for both the Friday & Saturday nights with food in the local hostelries which will be announced in due course.
B&B's are aplenty & most will take a booking in advance without requiring payment untill the weekend in question so its always a good idea to book early as last year it got very busy with a local wedding taking up some of the B&B's we normally use.
Below is a link to the main places to stay all within easy walking distance & please just ask if we can offer any help or advice, The Claremont also have as well as B&B a property which can be shared by a number of peeps who may wish to reduce costs by sharing & if I remember correctly a garage they have allowed us to use for the bikes in the past.
The Foxholes Camp site have a Bunk house, Static Caravan & Camping available.
Thanks Nick & Ellie

Glad to see you back Mark, threw me of my focus last year.
Hopefully you haven't gone for yellow so it's more easily seen by helicopters?

Will be goodd to see everyone again and thank them all for everything everyone did for me last year. And to Lee Morgan who helped with the retrieval of my SV and storing it for me. We are now friends because of this.

Re: Bishops Castle 5 2013 - Enter the Dragon
Well I can't deny the weather isn't causing concern at the moment ladies & gents, BC traditionally runs in May but thankfully is a bit later this year & hasn't the winter been drawn out this year? I mean even our wedding day at Easter nearly got snowed off with the weekend before registering as the worst in Derbyshire in 50 years
Lets hope the beginning of June proves to be much better, even the recce has the possibility of being done in the car this year (only had to do that once before)
My bike has hardly turned a wheel this year for various reasons & I'm absolutely desperate to stretch her legs as soon as, the recce is a four hundred mile round trip so stomping it in awful conditions isn't floating my boat (excuse the pun) or am I just being a wuss & should kit up & soak it up
Whatever happens I'm positive that at BC we will definately be wet on the inside especially with The Three Tuns excellent reputation for real ale brewed on site, time to don me ballet shoes & do a sun dance I think I have a very special pair of dancing shoes that 'might' just find their way into my tank bag

Re: Bishops Castle 5 2013 - Enter the Dragon
Ok, The route is now pretty much sorted & the recce was great fun as I was accompanied by Ellie & Radar on Saturday around the Welsh hills, we decided to take the bikes as a last minute decision as the forecast was awful in Wales right up to the night before but I'm pleased to say we stayed dry throughout.
I will post up nearer the time but we all need to keep our eyes peeled ladies & gents as the roads were interesting to say the least, from encountering the more usual problems of gravel (lots of it) caused by recent rainfalls to a chunk of barbed wire & even a coal shovel in the middle of the road which doesn't bear thinking about if it had been run over.
It's an interesting route with something for everyone from very fast open sweeping bends to narrower sections with cracking scenery.
Lunch stop facilities were tested & the light salad was confirmed by Radar as one of the best with sausage bacon & eggs as the side dish with very little salad indeed
The Three Tuns also asked us for the menu choices soon so can I please ask those who haven't let us know to do so as soon as or they will be feeling very envious as I tuck into my juicy steak
Just to round off its been decided that as the group is a good size we will run the two person drop off system again with two Tail End Charlie's sweeping at the rear, I will explain this in full nearer the time for anyone who hasn't used this system before & also on the morning of the ride.
I'm looking forward to this now & here's to a great weekend with great mates old & new

Thanks Nick, Ellie and Tony - sounds and looks very good.
I am pleased that light salads are available and tested out, would hate to be forced to eat anything too substantial

Hhhhmmmmmm, looks like we got away unscathed last weekend on the recce, Could be interesting if they decide to spot check our rideout though as the marker system means if I get pulled they will have the best part of 30 bikes to examine. Worth taking note though guys & gals

I can see a Bike Version of "Cannon Ball Run" for BC
Although the women on the rideout would have to try a bit of flattery if caught:
