suprise My winter project.

Post  supraloopy Thu Oct 20 2011, 22:04

Hi I'm not sure if this is the place to do this but here goes. I bought my cat about a week ago and have enjoyed getting to grips with it pale
I'm going to hang on until the weather gets too bad to ride with confidence and then start the job of bringing the bike back to tip top condition :whoop:
I'll put some pics up once I have worked out how to get them off my phone confused
So keep checking and please comment if you think I'm going wrong anywhere. clink

I'll see how it looks when I start to clean it up. If that's what it needs that's what I'll do :evil2:

suprise A few pics of how it is now.

Post  supraloopy Sat Oct 22 2011, 17:57

I have now worked out how to get pics up so here are a few of it as it stands now. It's a bit tatty but I'm now starting to really like the orange so my original plans may change. I'm collecting lots of bits ready for the winter so watch this space and I'll update it as and when things start to change.

Post  greencat Tue Nov 01 2011, 21:48

Wow Dave. That's quite a list!

Sounds like you're going to be doing a proper job. I know when I had to have mine repainted (haven't got time to explain why Embarassed ) the orange paint colour was no longer available. KTM orange was the nearest - if a bit brighter than the original. You probably know this already in your line of work, but I thought I'd mention it. Do like the orange/silver/black colours. great

Look forward to seeing the pictures.

Colour is going to be black/grey/silver. or bronze, can't decide.. It will all come to light when I start it. But if I don't like it I can change at no real cost as it's what I do.. that is why I'm buying spare everything so I can play.. I love the orange now but it's not really me.. I'm like the wind though I will change my mind like it all the time :0(

Got it on the stands
My winter project. 20111027_211859

Then just started taking it apart.

My winter project. 20111103_231907

My winter project. 20111104_215614

Got most of the bits to the workshop and started getting them ready.
My winter project. 20111104_121502

My winter project. 20111104_164401

Polished the tinted screen I got from ebay to a glass finish and started painting some bits to test the colour.
My winter project. 20111103_135009

My winter project. 20111105_133929

I then came home and carried on taking it apart, I should have the engine out very soon.
My winter project. 20111105_153121

Everything I touch on it breaks so will be renewing a lot more than first thought so parts etc.. may change depending on budget. I must keep reminding myself it's an old bike loony

suprise Couple more progress pics.

Post  supraloopy Mon Nov 07 2011, 22:26

I think I only have the chain, clutch and throttle cables to disconnect and then I'll drop the engine out.
I have removed the wiring loom completely as I am now having the frame re-powder coated. I have one quick question, should I keep the swinging arm
the same colour as the frame?

Very Impressed. I'd barely consider disassembling the pink bike in the background.

Keep up the good work.

I think the frame, swing arm and fork lowers should be the same colour.

I got someone to do some photoshopping for me here the pics, ignore the colours but it might help with the frames.

Other colour schemes.
Black

Pink

And the two alternate blues that I want to do, I think I prefer No 2:

I've changed my mind ..... all pink.
Maybe get those pink and silver streamer things for the bar ends too.

It will go well with the other bike in the picture.

Loving the tassels ;0) I don't mind if the thread goes off on a tangent as long it keeps people chatting and interested :0) As for the frame and swing arm I'll keep them silver I think. Ohh does anyone know where to get the yzf decals from? or is it yamaha only and bend over time??
I'm pleased you all like my efforts and any niggles or tricks I learn I'll post them up to ;0)
