Eifel Trip
First topic message reminder :
The Eifel is a beautiful semi mountainous region of Germany close to the Mosel and also has the Nürburgring in there. It's a national park much akin to Snowdonia or the Cairngorms. (please have a look at the link).
It's about a 3 or 4 hour journey from Calais to get to.
The German Site is holding their yearly meeting (much like our "Something for the Weekend" meets), at that location next year (2010) from May 13th to 16th (thurs through Sun).
Remember we had 10 of the Dutch riders come over to one of our Welshpool meets and what an international flavour that gave the whole weekend too.
Is it time for us to spread our wings as a group and return the trip ? . . . . albeit to Germany and not Holland.
Here is the LINK to the accommodation at the Hotel-Forsthaus (Hotel-Forest house).
This is a popular meeting on the German site so you'll need to be quick to get in on the group accomm or you may finish up looking for near by alternative guest houses. PM me asap if you intend to go on this trip so I can pass on your details to the event oganiser in Germany.
This event is the weekend before our Bishops Castle II so there's a slight clash . . . . sorry to ask for the choose between them both, but perhaps you could do both .
Who - How many are interested in making the trip to The Eifel and seeing what the other side has to offer ?
Please use this board to ask any questions and discuss the options and opinions . . . . .Cheers

Re: Eifel Trip
Can't believe it
Today in the evening my rear tyre was damaged - and no chance to change it because no dealer was able to change the tyre until closing time
And tomorrow is a blank holiday in Germany
Sometimes it seems that all the bad things in life come together
So i can't get to the Eifel Treff
S**t

So i can't get to the Eifel Treff
That is terrible news, how disappointing - you were so looking forward to it.
I'm doing an Advanced Riding Weekend boot camp starting tomorrow and am dreading it; quite ironic.

Re: Eifel Trip
Really sorry to hear you can't make Eifel now Toni.
We are in Rotterdam now having a coffee in macdonalds.
See everyone else later.
DBD bought a pair of Neanderthal Size gloves for the trip.
He can change gear, brake and accelerate all at the same time.
Cheers

Re: Eifel Trip
Dave and I arrived about 3 mins before the English Posse safe and sound.
Whilst still sober Dave broke the roller shutter in our room.
The accomodation is very gay friendly.
All of us have double beds....just not each.
What happens in Germany stays in Germany.
Have my first of many Bitburgers in my hand. Just need a burger now and my night will be complete. At least a I won't need a hot water bottle.
I wanna be the big spoon.
Cheers

Re: Eifel Trip
Suzie. I bought those extra large gloves after you changed your profile.
I can confirm there's only one big spoon in our room an it ain't Rosco!
Back from the first run. Incident free apart from Rosco standing in a rather large cowpat.
On the bitburgers in the bar.

Re: Eifel Trip
All back after day 2, no major in incidents barring Ross's run-in with half a chicken and a pile of straw. We had sun today, at last. The Scots are bordering on fluent in German now. Food now, gotta go....

Re: Eifel Trip
One major difference between a UK Thundercat meet and a German one is that the German one has.... Thundercats! And lots of them.
Oh, and bratwurst.
Currently deep into the 2nd or third Bitberger. Posts may become less frequent/intelligible from here on.

Re: Eifel Trip
So - first of all i did the meeting
After posting that it was impossible to take part at the meeting our members had a plan:
Our Admin drove about 100km to take the cat of his friend - then drove back, took the tyre with rim and took it to the meeting.
Another member drove 750km with his car and a trailer to take me and the cat to the meeting
There we changed the tyre and had a wonderful time
It was great to have you in Germany

Was a great time - thank you for this
