BC 8 - The Welsh Beast 10th-12th June 2016.
First topic message reminder :
Hi Folks,
It's that time of year again, to pencil in the BC dates for 2016.
This year we have secured all 19 beds at a lovely Motorcycle orientated B&B called Bikers retreat in Dolgellau, Mid Wales, run by Nigel & Tiv, two fellow bikers. It's a place I have been considering for the last couple of years.
The beds range from £39 - £45 per person per night B&B for doubles, twins and triples (all en-suite) and one single with a private bathroom.
Deposit is paid direct to the B&B and is £30 per person, the phone number is 01341 423192, please mention Nick Shuker as it's booked in my name.
There is a bar with local beer and lagers and a bar menu, I will be visiting over the winter to establish what's best for the group with eating arrangements.

There is secure bike parking behind gates, a drying room for wet gear, and a workshop with tools and Nigel is very helpful and knowledgeable apparently.
There will be other accommodation available in the area, if required.
Feel free to ask any questions.

Ok Guys & Gals,
A place has become available sharing a triple room with RichRich & TT Mark if anyone fancies it?
If so please give Nigel a ring to book (in the original post) & let me know to add you to the master list please.

Re: BC 8 - The Welsh Beast 10th-12th June 2016.
Just a quick update guys, Due to numerous reasons inc the fact that the venue is a 3 hour drive from my home it's looking unlikely I'm going to get to visit Bikers Retreat before the actual meet, and most probably I'll struggle to sort a recce in time this year too.
I'm using past knowledge & relying on my Sat Nav so it could make it more of a Magical Mystery Tour lol, none of this concerns me at all, It's more of a heads up that I'm unlikely to be able to check out other accommodation or eateries in the area.
Given the superb Tripadvisor ratings it makes sense to keep the bulk of the groups evening entertainment at the venue.
Apologies if this makes it a little awkward for those not accommodated yet but all are free to join in the ride etc in whatever form they wish.
There is still one place available sharing in a triple room.
Cheers Nick

It'll make it even more interesting Nick and it means you can blame the Sat Nav when we get lost

I may, just may, be able to go over there next week so I'll poke my head through a few doors, press my nose up against windows etc. etc. and let you know what I find out.
Rob/Ellie - PM me if there any particular questions you want answers to
Cheers

Due to a late cancellation we now have a double room available as well as the single bed sharing in a triple room.
Any questions please ask.

Re: BC 8 - The Welsh Beast 10th-12th June 2016.
Result of the accommodation recce - when I went over to the Bikers Retreat the double hadn't been taken so I have booked it but happy to negotiate if there are any other takers. If more beds are needed, the nearest accom. is in town which is a 10 minute walk away (so I was told!); the BR are happy for people to leave bikes in their car park (gated) overnight. There is a B&B in town run by an ex-military person (Nick) who is into bikes and has secure parking.

Meyrick Street, Dolgellau LL40 1LN 07958 413277
and the Royal Ship Inn in town also has parking

There's more info on accom here

I've also got a list of eateries but didn't have a chance to stop and sample the wares I'm afraid. Nick, are we planning on eating at the BR both nights?
BTW, just in case anyone has any allergies, there appear to be a couple of dogs in residence too - couldn't see them mentioned on the website.
Cheers

Re: BC 8 - The Welsh Beast 10th-12th June 2016.
Thanks Steph,
Yes as it stands I'm still planning to spend both evenings at Bikers Retreat, I've had such a manic year so far I've only been out on the bike twice (& one of those was 2 miles down the road last Sat for an MOT,
I've obviously not managed a recce either so the route is yet to be finalised & I'm going to have to wing it with tea/toilet stops from memory, I'm pleased the double room has gone now & that leaves one single bed sharing in a triple room.
Cheers Nick

Re: BC 8 - The Welsh Beast 10th-12th June 2016.
Would that be the room I'm sharing with Christian? If so I would warn potential takers, that I fart for Europe. and Christian snores for Europe the Americas, Africa, and would you believe it, he even outsnores DBD, but please do not let that put you off.

Re: BC 8 - The Welsh Beast 10th-12th June 2016.
My understanding of the double/twin room configuration is the beds are 'modular' - can be twins or a double. BR needs a few days notice to 'configure' the twins or doubles to requirements.
I've reserved a twin cum double, hoping Pam would be able to join me - however I'll only know, probably this time next week, if she will be able to do the trip. I appreciate it's short notice, but if Pam isn't able to make it I could keep the twin configuration and offer it to someone who may be lastminute.com.
Not to put anyone off, but I could probably rival Christian and Terry collectively on their best efforts

Whatever the farting, snoring and room sharing shenanigans may bring, I canny wait for this weekend. It might be smelly and noisy but I'm really looking forward to it.
Cheers to Steph for the recce on the digs. 2 weeks and counting.
Nick don't worry about the route. Just go and we will follow.

If you want to PM me where you're up to with the route I may be able to do some more investigative work this w'end but, with regard to the roads, I don't think there are many bad ones in Wales - I can't seem to find any!
