Re: Leyburn - Friday 23rd Sept 2016
Get some decent painkillers off them mate, makes a world of difference compared to over the counter stuff. I bought my own sling and support strap/brace to get mine aligned properly and take some of the strain. They're uncomfortable and a bit sore at first but you soon get used to them and it helps to immobilise your shoulder and let it heal.
Let us know how you get on, after last year I would advise to push for an operation to pin it if you can. Mine still isn't right and I finally have an appointment for surgery to get it sorted soon.
We'll have to compare notes after a few drams some time!

Re: Leyburn - Friday 23rd Sept 2016
Small update. Obviously Furball won't be able to make the venue due to his accident, and unfortunately Terry & Bea won't be able to make it either due to medical problems, so Ray will take Furballs single room, rather than having to share with Christian & Tim and Paul who was going to share with Bob and Pete can have Terry & Bea's room on a single occupancy deal, and Debbie says she will just charge him as if it was a single. Pretty fair if you ask me!

Re: Leyburn - Friday 23rd Sept 2016
A slight change of plan from me too Terry, won't be able to get to GL on Thursday, will let them know in the morning.
I'm having to stop over in Ashton-Under-Lyne now to speak with my 30 year old son regarding his desire to own an CBR600RR and he doesn't even have a bike license
Am planning on still getting to the meeting point by 11:30 though, saves Alt-berg the hassle of me bugging them
I think some of the team are from near by, may be I could meet them and ride up?

Re: Leyburn - Friday 23rd Sept 2016
Thanks for letting me know Steve. Was hoping to leave the G/L at 11.00 giving a chance to get fish & chips in Whitby for those that fancy. The only person that I am aware of that is coming from your neck of the woods is John Armitage, and he says he will arrive at 10.30. He lives in Cheltenham, would you like his phone No?

Re: Leyburn - Friday 23rd Sept 2016
Sorry Tez did mean 10:30 for 11, brain going faster than fingers again.
Looking at the map I'm probably best just getting to Leyburn on my own and not complicate things - thanks for the phone number offer.

Re: Leyburn - Friday 23rd Sept 2016
Which way are you going to Leyburn Steve?
Getting up there via the A1?
If no rain expected, I'll be up for the ride Fri & Saturday. Just travel to and fro on the days.

Re: Leyburn - Friday 23rd Sept 2016
Bloody hell, they're dropping like flies, first Furball, then Oldcat, just had a message from John Armitage to say he can't make it due to the fact that he is currently apprehended by the French police and that they have confiscated his bike! So a single up for grabs at the G/L. any takers before I cancel his booking?

Re: Leyburn - Friday 23rd Sept 2016
Crikey Tez, the French have taken Brexit badly - hope he's OK.
Rob, I will be doing the A1, right looks like I'll on the M1 and join after the Abberford by pass, looks like J43 - will have a look see where's a good spot to meet and the aprox time I plan on being there. I'll be leaving Ashton-Under-Lyme hopefully around 8 am and my planned route into Leyburn will go past the petrol station.

Re: Leyburn - Friday 23rd Sept 2016
Just spoke to John. 750euro fine for starters, bike impounded, can't ride in France for so many months, can't be released from house arrest until judge turns up, which could be tomorrow or in 10 days time and a further fine possible. Zapped at 90 in a 60 kph Pretty fierce in mho but there you go. One of the reasons I haven't ridden there or in fact certain other European countries for some time. His major worry is how to get his bike home after all this bullshit is sorted out. That is of course if he gets it back. According to his wife, depending on what the judge says it may be seized and sold at auction in France.

Re: Leyburn - Friday 23rd Sept 2016
That's a triumph, for the French to pick on the brits.
But hopefully it wasn't the Explorer that's been confiscated. Petty French but they can be harsh with stories that I've heard. Must be hard up for cash at that astronomical fine.
They need to take up this idea of the British police and that's the classroom dressing down.
Steve, yeah I can meet you either at J31 on the M1 for a meeting or are you going M1-M18-A1 route? . I'll be kicking off around the 9 mark.

Bloody-ell. That's a serious spanking that John is getting in France by the sound of it.
It make your "you no make chicane" fine fade into insignificance.
What is the latest Terry?

Re: Leyburn - Friday 23rd Sept 2016
Well, we are still planning on arriving tomorrow evening at some point. Probably mid to late evening though as I could only get a half day off work.
Looking forward to seeing everyone at 10.30 on Friday morning for the Whitby ride out.

Seeing as Stevecat and Furball wont be arriving on the Thurs evening, shall I take it that you and Ian will do your own thing Thurs evening, and I'll see you Fri morning.

Yeah, we don't really know when we are going to arrive so it is probably the sensible option.

Roughly what time do you think the Friday ride out will arrive back at the golden lion?

Re: Leyburn - Friday 23rd Sept 2016
Spoke to John Armitage this morning, he got back from France yesterday. One of the guys he was riding with came back home hired a van and went back to pick him up. Including the fine the whole unhappy saga has cost him approx. £2000. 00. One of the officers told him he was just unlucky, there were three of them riding together at the same speed, but as John was the lead rider it was he that the speed camera picked up. The other two were not charged!

Re: Leyburn - Friday 23rd Sept 2016
Did they all agree on sharing fines if one was court and others didn't?
Terrible luck and that's if the speed camera relayed the correct speed.
