Brilliant, well done, been really busy the last few days, and haven't had chance to speak to the G/Lion, There might be slight issues there, hope to speak to them tomorrow.

Haven't been asked for any deposits, I know the owners quite well, I think it might be a "trust" thing.

Just as an FYI we will be there 3 nights too, arriving on Thursday. We've booked in at the Dales Haven Guest House just across the square from the GL. So easy staggering distance

Re: Leyburn - Friday 23rd Sept 2016
Forgot to mention, I live about a mile from Leyburn, and across the road from me is a pub with a small caravan site behind, they also do camping, and have showers, toilets etc. So anyone preferring the outdoor life just give me a shout. The pub is called the Pheasant.

Sorry for jumping in here, There's open parking in front of the hotel but as it's public space late night revealers abound. There is an alley to a parking area behind the hotel, in the past we've found place to park in the alley. Best bring a lock for added peace of mind, if you prefer.
Pic shows the front of the hotel, you'll see the alley way between the hotel and the building next door.

Can anyone recall the shenanigans that went on there when the "manager" gave someone the wrong key?

Chris was the "cat burglar" .... Or "pussy worrier" as I liked to call him back in 2010.

Wow, they are a proper blast from the past.
That drainpipe would give way now, I'd never manage to shimmy up it.

My god that brings back memories. I also climbed the drain pipe & in the window, as I remember when we looked in daylight all the fixings were rotten & Chris & I were lucky it didn't give way a storey up. Don't think I could shimmy up it now either Chris!

I think Martin, me and Steve all got through that way.
Then someone managed to open a door.
If it wasn't for all the drunken hilarity we could have made a great burglary team.

Re: Leyburn - Friday 23rd Sept 2016
Been contemplating about what to do regarding food on the Fri. & Sat. evenings as well as the Thurs. for the few who are staying that night. What do attendee's think about this:-
Thurs. Obviously folk will be arriving at different times, so might just want to do their own thing, or I could arrange a table at the G/L for say 8.00 pm. Alternatively I could take you all down to my favourite pub The Cover bridge Inn about 2 miles away where they serve very good pub grub and have an extensive range of real ales. I have quite a large car that can accommodate 7 so no probs. there.
Fri. As it stands there will be 18 of us to be fed that night and not all establishments can cope with that number, however Debbie at the G/L has said if I can give her a No. and a time she will set up a table so we can all eat together. Alternatively there are other pubs, a fish & chip shop, and 2 Indian takeaways to choose from. Any late comers might have to eat en route or take their chance on arrival.
Sat. There is an excellent Indian restaurant 50 yds. across the road from the G/L I'm pretty sure we have eaten there before on previous S&Ts, I have spoken to them and provisionally booked a table for 18, they can cater for many more, so it wont be a problem if we get more attendee's. For those that don't like spicy food they do lots of "ordinary food" A mate of mine who goes there doesn't do spicy but adores the baby lamb chops they do. Again as an alternative there are other pubs etc. Please let me know your thoughts, and I'll act accordingly.

Re: Leyburn - Friday 23rd Sept 2016
Hi terry, I'm still not sure whether I'm working the Friday or can book the day off, assuming I'm working until 6 I will probably grab a bite in settle or hawes riding across. Saturday at the Indian resteraunt sounds good to me, been 2 or 3 times at s&t which have been great for both food & service as I recall.

Plans for Friday and Saturday night sound great Terry. As for Thursday, still not sure when we will be arriving. If we are early enough then we would love to join you, if not we will get something when we arrive and catch up with you all later. We will update you nearer the time.
