S'n'T 2011 Dates - Fri 23rd & Sat 24th Sept

Folks,

Terry is going to look after things for 2011 and has asked me to pop up a calender placeholder, so people can save the date.

It's looking like the weekend will be based in Masham Black Lion in Richmond, and accommodation details will be posted as they become available. are posted below in MevsyD's post.

A repeat of last years 'Hotel Entry Krypton Factor' entertainment may be arranged if enough people show an interest.

Don't worry about the subscription. There is similar titled publication that will take your mind off it that you can hide inside.

Hi everyone,

Yes its going to be Masham, locals pronounce it masam, looked around the town, and the best accom. seems to be the Bay Horse. Its a traditional dales pub, good ale excellent simple grub resonably priced and comfortable accommodation. The pub has a small courtyard at the back where we can park the bikes. There is a reasonable amount of other accom in the town. Other hotels include the Kings Arms & The White Bear. B&B recommendations :-

There is also a good campsite about half a mile outside the town called the Station for the hardy types.
Back to the Bay Horse, accom comprises 6 rooms, 4 doubles, & 2 twins, the twins can be converted to sleep 3. Normal B&B rates are £40.00 but have negotiated this down to £35.00, might get this down a little more if we utilise the 3 in a room option. Furthermore the pub also has a holiday cottage about a quarter of a mile away that sleeps 6, so plenty of options. The only downside is that this is an extremely popular weekend destination and gets booked up quite early, and the patrons of the above have advised that they would much prefer that we book the 2 night option rather than the 1 as they have no trouble letting their rooms at weekends. Not trying to put pressure on here and I appreciate not everyone can commit at such an early date, however the market towns of Ripon and Leyburn are both only about 10 miles away with plenty of B&B accom should the accom above get booked up. [The Golden Lion in Leyburn might be an option for some]
For the uninciated Masham is ideally situated for easy access to both the N Yorks moors and the Dales and only slightly further the Lake District. I hav'nt planned a route as yet but without being big headed can adapt one in any direction, so would like imput from those wishing to attend, for instance quite a few enjoyed Hard Knott&Wrynose others liked Hartside, we might even be able to do both. I'm not competant enough to put up a list as Ross has done for twm, perhaps someone could do this for me, otherwise please post up asap

This is my fault as I have made a proposition to Terry. My better half (Angela) has the Black Lion in Richmond and has offered it to us at £30 per person inc a monster breakfast... I know the place (obviously) and it really is a good spot. Car park will be closed off for bikes only and Richmond is a good venue to go out and about for a beer as all pubs and stuff are walking distance.

Nothing changes as per the rideout, tis a short way away from the original, good thing is though no danger of being locked out as the owner is on the back of my bike!

Angela will happily reserve the hotel for either dates, but it would be nice to get it in the book. Tradition says last week in Sep but what is your thoughts?

Hi everyone, I think we should revert back to the last weekend of Sept. as per usual. The only reason it was brought forward was that it clashed with the Masham sheep fair. So thats it then, Black Lion in Ricmmond Fri 23rd & Sat 24th Sept. Lets get buy booking. Tes.

Works for me (clearly!) All cleared so I'll sort out all the details and post up at the weekend.. Room breakdown etc, there are 13 rooms all en suite but not sure how many are singles, doubles etc.

Right, all sorted.. Hotel booked under 'Surf and Turf', please say that when booking. Rooms are as follows.

1 x Single
4 x twin
6 x double
2x family (double +single bed)

Don't worry too much about occupancy though, as if it works out there is only one person in a double there will be no change on rate. Food wise a la carte or early bird menu (regardless of time) 2 courses £10.95 or 3 courses for the fatties at £12.95. Menu will be posted laters but no pre orders needed. No free bar I'm afraid but there is full poker facilities available if anyone fancies trying to take a bit of brass out of my pocket!!

Topless bar staff available on request, but believe me you don't want him to take his shirt off!

So, my job done... Please call 01748 826217 and book. £10 per room required if that's ok, if you are short pm me and I'll shout your tenner until then. Any questions or owt let me know....

Nice one MevsyD and Angela, due to the change of dates hopefully I'll be able to make this now (Quick, change it back!!!). I won't need any accommodation coz I only live a couple of miles away.

I can vouch that Richmond is a really good night out, plenty pubs, a few nice places to eat and a great place to base ourselves for some excellent riding.

Fingers crossed, see you there.

i like the sound of this but have a couple of questions. obviously i have to pass my test first , which starts this week , but even assuming a monumental cock up i should have that long before the end of summer lol. however i will still be relatively inexperienced so
