S'n'T 2011 Dates - Fri 23rd & Sat 24th Sept
First topic message reminder :
Folks,
Terry is going to look after things for 2011 and has asked me to pop up a calender placeholder, so people can save the date.
It's looking like the weekend will be based inMasham Black Lion in Richmond, and accommodation details will be posted as they become available. are posted below in MevsyD's post.
A repeat of last years 'Hotel Entry Krypton Factor' entertainment may be arranged if enough people show an interest.
Chris
P.S.
Unfortunately I probably won't be attending the Surf and Turf this year, me and (by then) Mrs Eddie will be busy sunning ourselves on honeymoon where I'll most likely be reading this;

I'm reliably informed all newlywed men receive a lifetime subscription.

Re: S'n'T 2011 Dates - Fri 23rd & Sat 24th Sept
I would like to say a big thanks to all of you for making me feel welcome, dispite all the wrong turn offs I made.
I was a bit anxious at first with wet roads, mud and leaves on the roads, but after lunch when the sun made it out and the roads dried nicely with faster winding "A" roads it was very enjoyable indeed.
It was great to follow a precession of bikes braking and leaning into bends and there was suprisingly few cars on the roads.
And by the time I got home I had clocked up nearly 300 miles ( nearly doubling my total mileage)
Was a bit stiff the next day though.

Glad you enjoyed it Steve, your bike looks to be a really nice example of the Cat. This was only my second meet and have found at both everyone is very welcoming and genuinely pleased to see new riders there.
Hope to see you at another ride next year

Re: S'n'T 2011 Dates - Fri 23rd & Sat 24th Sept
Hi everyone, Thought you might want to hear about this. On the Sat.night when most were eating, can you remember Sean and Lee paid us a visit? You might remember Lee from W/Mac, he rides a Kwaka 636 in an orange colour! Anyway after he left us, more ale was consumed untill a taxi was called about 12.45. Now Lee only lives about 4 miles from Richmond/Catterick, and as a local farmer knows the area like the back of his hand (in the daylight that is) and as most will also know Catterick Camp is the largest of its kind in Europe. So, to save a few bob, Lee insructs the taxi driver to take a short cut over the hills to his farm! This short cut involves negotiating tank roads and tracks as well as army assualt courses and the like. Its all very well in the day, but quite a different matter at night, espescially when totally pissed. Now Lee can't remember too much, but seems to think the taxi fell victim to a "tank trap" so he abandons said taxi and heads for home on foot! arriving some 3 hours later covered head to foot in mud, and completely exhuasted. Cynthia his long suffering partner, as you can imagine was not well chuffed, and as we speak he is still ostracised. Locals are saying he probably negotiated at least 1 assualt course on his journey home. In my humble opinion this debacle deserves pillock of the month award, and at least 1 numpty point.

No Ross, I do'nt think he's a member, but he could be tried in abstentia. Do'nt know what happened to the taxi, nor does Lee, in fact he says he can't remember anything!

Just bin back up the Dales, a bit spontaneous but enjoyable. Stopped at the Black Lion. I don't think the Dales like me - I got soaked this morning going to Hawes and following the A684/3 to Devils Bridge. Got home to find it has been nothing but blisteringly hot.
Bike is now on 12,900miles, meaning that since 1st June i have covered
6,400miles. If there is a most covered miles award, then I'm gunning for it.

Sorry Manor, I can beat it as well. Between middle of March to end of Oct. I do approx 15,000 every year, before tucking her up for winter.

Re: S'n'T 2011 Dates - Fri 23rd & Sat 24th Sept
Cheers Ross, had enough close ones in the Dales; Tractor with forks on the front not looking before pulling out, Aprillia RSV going miles too fast and aiming for me - near head on, camper van thinking he has right of way even thou the parked car is on his side, cattle grids (love 'em), S-Bends with bridges in them (ok, my fault, overtaking down hill in the wet, wrong line, wrong speed etc, but I did not panick and I made it round with an inch or two to spare), the list goes on and all in the wet - LOL
But it makes you feel alive and is a bundle of fun, can't wait to get back up there again - group or otherwise.
Will definately be on Big Mac next year.
