Dates confirmed - 16th/17th Sept

Just a placemarker for the moment folks, get the dates in your diary. A little earlier this year as we have a wedding to attend the following weekend.

Fri 15th - Meet, eat, drink & laugh.
Sat 16th - Main rideout (Dales/Moors/Lakes).
Sun 17th - Head home.

I'll be coming, and organising the route, will have to put my thinking cap on to surpass last years run, got one or two idea's circulating in this grey old napper.

I would think I will be coming again.

Well done Paul, No. 1 on the list.
Small amendment to Chris's post, it will be eat drink and be merry Frid. 15th ride out Sat 16th Sun 17th bimble home. Last year quite a few came up on the Thursday evening and we had a great rideout on the Friday. If people are up for that again please let me know. The event will again be in Leyburn, as explained in previous years its down to sheep fairs. I think everyone thought the Golden Lion was ok, so plan to use it again this year. To be honest its the only pub/hotel than can cater for the numbers. People can contact them direct on 01969 622161 ask for Beckie or Debbie and mention Surf&turf alternatively you can book it through me. Any queries or problems please post up.

Bugger!! If it was the weekend before I'd be coming.....I go back to work just before that weekend

Had a phone call from Debbie at the Golden Lion in Leyburn this morning, she tells me that she has taken quite a few bookings from other people for the weekend 15 16 17th but the weekend prior to that is completely free, that is 9 10 and 11th of Sept. It doesn't matter to me one way or the other, and considering that no one has actually committed yet what do other possible attendees think? I know DBD said he could come if it was a week earlier.

I'm easy with that weekend. I'll be there just for the ride out though.

Work is really getting in the way of my social life.
If it wasn't for the pay and pension I'd be stopping it right now.

I'm away the weekend before and might struggle with the original date with work cover.

Really need to get a few folks agreed and booked up and the rest will follow if they can.
Hope it gets at least as popular as Big Mac this year.....shouldn't be too hard.

If there is limited room availability the original weekend then might be worth thinking about the earlier one.
We know you can organise it but it needs us dafties to actually get fingers out and book accommodation when it is decided. Have any of our crew booked any accommodation?

We're really going to have to plumb for the earlier weekend Ross 9th 10th and 11th. Hope you might be able to swing things around.

No chance of 23/24 for this? Think the TOL ride out is earmarked for the 1st and 2nd of September.

It was an option Rob, only my son gets married on the 23rd. If someone would like to take over the organising it could still be an option.

I'm good for the original dates (16th September) and can't do the 10th unfortunately.
Think we can rule out the 23rd for your family wedding Terry.

Sounds like we don't need much space at this rate Terry but it would be nice to finalise a date (albeit again) and get folks to start booking accommodation and then it is set in stone.

Hopefully have a few more along shortly to be able to commit to a date or two and take it from there.

Come on folks .... get your name down.

Without doubt this is the best rideout we do.....

Well, thanks for the support Ross. Seeing that Rob isn't bothered either way, and little response from others, lets go with the original dates, (weekend of the 16th Sept.) When I spoke to Debbie she had 5 or 6 rooms left, so for those (maybees) if you want to stay at the Golden Lion, time to get booked up. There are quite a few alternatives most in and around the market square, and others all within easy walking distance. For those that might want to camp, there is a site opposite to where I live, about a mile from the town centre. Anyone need help or advice re accommodation just post up and I'll be happy to help.

Just phoned up and was told they only had doubles left for Friday 15th and Saturday 16th Sept.
She suggested phoning back tomorrow incase Becky could re-jig something.
Anyone wanna share a TWIN (doubles are extra) with me if we can get one?

Im really not sure ross, I may be confusing last year when terry booked the rooms for us, don't think I have called & booked myself tbh.

OK the latest, the GL have 6 rooms left, unfortunately they're all doubles, however Beckie is almost certain that the landlady Debbie will let us have them on a single occupancy basis, and at the same price as last year £40 per night instead of the normal rate of £45 So the occupants will be Ross, yamahamad Paul, Bob Pete Ray and roger who has never been with us before. I will confirm the above in the very near future. Two of the double rooms also have some sort of bed settee in them that we might utilise if push came to shove. Just coming for the ride out so far will be Gordon and gremlin, pretty sure there will be more of the golden oldies given time. As stated in an earlier post, there are many other hostelries in the town, if I can help in any way just post up.
ps forgot to mention Robcat who is also coming for the ride out.

Good news and bad, Yes singe occupancy rate confirmed, but Debbie insists on £45.00 per head per night, as she has put her normal rate up to £50.00. Lets face it, its only a pint and a half of ale at todays prices, however if its a problem let me know. If I don't hear anything I will assume you all agree. Cheers the noo.
