Greetings. After a protracted absence for a whole load of reasons, we may actually rock up to this. It's not far from use so we could potentially just come for the day, but would rather stay over - any sense on whether there's any accom left in Leyburn?

We just checked on booking.com for hotels in that area on those dates. Other accommodation search sites are available of course. Smile

OK sorted. We're booked into the White Swan Hotel a couple of miles up the road for the Saturday night. Just need to find my bike in the garage and see if I can remember how to ride it!

Hiya Tel, yep it's been a very long time and yes, we've reproduced. Not figured out what we're going to do with the nipper yet though, so K might not be riding with us, will see.

Hope you're all well.

Post  terry lees Fri Sep 09 2016, 15:51

Hi all, The first part of this just concerns the people taking part in Fridays ride out. I know Stevecat and Furball want to visit the Altburg factory in Richmond. Assuming they leave Leyburn about 9.00 a m they should be back about 10.30 to 11.00 its only about 20 mins. away. John Armitage is coming up from Cheltenham and expects to arrive at the G/L about 10.30 Most of the Fylde Coast gang are coming over as well and will arrive at the same time. Ian and Jill have you any plans for the morning or will you tag along with the others? If we leave Leyburn about 11 ish we should be in Whitby around 12.30 ish which will give us time to wander about and/or those that missed brekkie to get some lovely fish and chips. Anybody else is most welcome to join this ride out, or even meet us in Whitby. Might be a good idea at this stage to post up my Mob. no. 07751120945
Saturday. The route I've planned is approx. 230 miles, so we do need to leave promptly at 9.00 am, there is a filling station 220 yds. down the road from the G/L would everyone please make sure they are topped up before departure, the next fuel stop is just outside Kendal about 110 miles. I don't think this will be a problem for anyone, if it is please let me know (good job you're not on the Panigale Dave) A tea/coffee/pee stop is planned at the famous Devils Bridge bikers stop eta 10.45 after that and the aforementioned fuel stop, the plan is to stop for lunch in Broughton in Furness, a small attractive town (god it sounds like I'm trying to sell a holiday) with a few pubs a couple of caffs and a superb butcher who sells delicious pork pies and other delicacies. eta 1.00. Got a nice route planned after lunch but a little complicated to describe and an afternoon tea/beer stop in mind. All of the above assumes good weather, fingers crossed everyone, but I can modify the route at any time to suit the conditions. Hope I've covered all the bases, any questions please ask. Look forward to seeing everyone in two weeks time.

Sounds like a plan Tez.

New pair of shoes on this weekend for me.

Tyre guy said my front was at least 12 years old as they didn't make them anymore.
I've only done 1500 miles on it.

Cheers

I had a set of tyres which had been on the bike closer to 20 years also with similar mileage, was back in the days when I didn't ride much Shocked
Just goes to show it best to keep the front wheel on the road Wink

Tez, Alt-Berg isn't a must for me - thought you may have wanted to set off early afternoon so was more a time killer, as its so close might still shoot up there for some laces and a tin of their finest and try my luck at getting a buff for the boots though.

Yeh was on/off the bike, rounded a right corner 50mph tiny bit of gravel on the exit caught it with the back wheel, started sliding towards a rock face, decided to bail of landing on my right shoulder and my head...

The hospital just phoned to say they don't want to see me till the 20th, so I hope things have improved by then...

Get some decent painkillers off them mate, makes a world of difference compared to over the counter stuff. I bought my own sling and support strap/brace to get mine aligned properly and take some of the strain. They're uncomfortable and a bit sore at first but you soon get used to them and it helps to immobilise your shoulder and let it heal.
Let us know how you get on, after last year I would advise to push for an operation to pin it if you can. Mine still isn't right and I finally have an appointment for surgery to get it sorted soon.

We'll have to compare notes after a few drams some time! clink
