How long you had your Cat?
I was saying hi on **BULLETT** s hello thread and realised that in August this year, I will have had my 2001 Cat for 10 years, TEN YEARS
It's got either 31k or 37k on the clocks, but the worst bit is that it's not actually moved for 7 years.
How long you had yours for?
This is the day I got it:

Re: How long you had your Cat?
I'm a relative newborn compared to some of you (in cat ownership terms).
Only had her since April 14...and like Stretchie's she's not looking too good at the moment. No fairings, no calipers and only one fork.
I don't intend to leave her like that though, one 'quick' winter brake service was all I intended when I started...

Re: How long you had your Cat?
I took the wheels off the blackbird for the day just to get tyres 18 months ago. Ended up polishing the wheels, removing the swingarm, polishing it, changing the swingarm bearings, new carbs, cleaned, fitted, and balanced, new brake pads all round, new rear shock and I THINK I serviced it too
Most expensive and exhausting new tyres I've ever had

I had my 99 plate for four years 11/1/11 until 30/12/14 in that time I put more miles on her than what stretchie's has on it (brought her with just under 30000 and sold her with 73020) i do miss her tho

Re: How long you had your Cat?
I know what you mean, I used to live on my bike, go out at 08:00, come back around midnight.
I put those 30+k on in less than two years, there is a whole history of second gear issues and a cowboy holding my engine for 9 months, so well over half of the time between Aug 05 and March 08 the bike wasn't working.
Then I got a girlfriend and dogs and can't really be out on it for too long as need to be back for the dogs. I mainly just commute now and have a couple of rideouts a year :(

I know all about second gear issue, hence why I sold her, I'm sure you'll get round to putting her back in the road at some point

Re: How long you had your Cat?
Bought my August 98 Cat in March 2000. So 15 years next month. 1500km/900 miles on the clock when bought, 39,000Km now. Still reasonably smart, but in need of less bouncy suspension now
Since 2000 has shared garage space with a FZ750, CB250RS, 2xRD350YPVS, FZ600, XJR1300, FZ1S, EN125 Suzuki and a Ducati S2R1000.
Will be out on WeeMc, BC and possibly ToL and DA this year as well the TT
I still have not needed to charge the battery

Re: How long you had your Cat?
Like Alleycat I can't hold onto a bike very long, although it's coming upto a year on the Pan and I've nearly put 30,000 miles on it ...will be needing a new bike soon

Re: How long you had your Cat?
Standard OE battery that came with the bike, I have never charged or stuck on an optimate. Amazing really.
Never had another battery last anything like that long. If you left my XJR1300 for a few days it would struggle to start, bloody Datatool alarm, no such issues with the Thundercat

Re: How long you had your Cat?
June the 6th 2006, full records of running costs since then, Broke down once last year at the British Moto GP when the battery failed(internal short) and the Datatool alarm failed at he beginning of last year and shorted out the electrics(strange it got removed rather quick after that). Covered 91312 miles since I've had it.
