Binned my Cat
It is with a heavy heart that I have to tell you I have come off the Cat.
While on a rideout in Snake pass I hit a bit of oil on one of the bends near the end on the down hill section. The back wheel lost grip and the bike went for a low side but then decided to grip and flip, I was sent flying and stopped just short of the Armco. The Cat was not so luck and hit the Armco hard with the top of the bike. :(
I just don't have the words to express how gutted I am.

Take care John, there's a fine line between this world & the next.
Bikes don't suffer pain, there's plenty more out there.

I'm gutted for you mate, I know what the bike means to you it's obvious the way you look after and ride it.
As others have said though mate the most important part of the bike (you) is okay bar a few bumps and bruises, the bike whilst important is repairable or replaceable, metal and plastic can be repaired, we don't always go back together so well.
Glad you're okay mate and worry about the cat in the cold light of day :(

Re: Binned my Cat
Oh Crap. Really sorry to hear the news John.
The main thing is that you're still in one piece albeit a bit bruised and battered.
As others have said the bike can be repaired / replaced.
Get well soon mate and keep us posted.

gutted fella,, hope your better soon, if the headache continues, get it checked as it sounds like you banged your nogin if your throat hurts!!!
at least its coming up to the time when the weather will not be so good, so you have the winter to sort / replace the bike in time for next year eh!!
Dont suppose a allen key , hammer and screwdriver offer will help this time eh!!
Pete

Re: Binned my Cat
Thanks for all the comments.
Until my mortgage is up next April so I can sell my house I really don't see me being able to afford another bike, lets say that when the insurance pays out, as a responsible parent, the money would be best put to other uses.
Didn't sleep well last night but the headaches gone to be replaced by back ache.
Here's some pics.
Got to say their the Worst and most emotional ones I've ever taken of my Cat.
As you will see there is a lot of bodywork damage, left hand side engine cover is split and the framework making up the nose is all bent and twisted out of shape.

Re: Binned my Cat
Not nice fella, but have to say if you can sort out without the insurance,, its mainly fairings / paintwork, engine cover is normal when these drop !! (ebay) , when we rebuilt chris's bike we got all the parts from auto jumble at peterbourough etc, ebay,, rebuilt it very cheaply (friend repainted it) so dont be so quick to right it off through insurance !!!!!

Re: Binned my Cat
Sorry to hear this John. As the others said, you're in one piece so however gutting it feels, it's far better than it could have been. Give it a few days and then you'll be able to think about it a bit more objectively. These things can be it right fairly easily with the right research and help.

Re: Binned my Cat
Doesn't look too bad mate. If the forks are not bent then it shouldn't cost you too much to put right. Obviously hard to tell from just a pic. I have a couple of side fairings you can have If you want but you'd need to paint them. If you want them they're yours for the price of the postage. See how you feel after a couple of days and a proper damage assessment.

Re: Binned my Cat
obviously I am no expert but looking at the headlight pic then am I right in thinking that the front end looks "bent/twisted" ? maybe its just the way I am looking at the pic

Re: Binned my Cat
Looks like a poorly Cat. Don't have anything to offer in the way of spares as such, (some bullet indicators you're welcome to) but I think we know of a potential donor bike north of the border that you could probably salvage some spares from. Will just need a paint up.
Like you've said though take a couple of days for reflection (and to mend yourself) and then take it from there!!
Good luck mate, I'll be happy to give you a lift if you need any help.
