Ventura luggage system??

First topic message reminder :

Does anyone know where I might be able to pick this stuff up (pref cheap as poss). A few friend have said its the best system as apart from the fitting bracket everything else can be lifted and put on future bikes, plus when not in use the additional grab handle doesnt detract from the look of the bike.

Problem is it will cost about £260 plus a further £18 for the grab handle.

This on top of me having to buy camping equipment (which I need the luggage rack to carry it all) is making this hobby quite a lot more expensive.

I need to be ready by February for the first rally as I've been told if I'm not on the first o e of the year they won't let me on the rest!!

Plus it'll come in handy for ride outs with you guys and my trip to Assen next year.

Any help on Ventura ( or cheap camping equipment) appreciated.

P. S I have never camped in my life and have no idea what's good, what's crap or what I should be paying so all help appreciated:)

I've got a Renntec rack that I bought cheap in a sale ages ago but never fitted because one of the bosses on the mounting brackets is out of place and needs removing and re-welding. In the meantime I needed one quickly so I bought another that does fit, so this one's surplus to requirements.

You're welcome to it for postage plus a bit if it's any use.

Ventura L brackets arrived today, (finally)!! Fitted with a bit of fuss due to the stubby rear indicators I have on my Cat but will make do til I get back from Wales and then sort it out properly.

John I've not forgotten what I promised you and will take some pics of the fitting method and the dimensions/angles of the brackets but in the meantime I can tell you the bracket attaches to the rear bolt on the rear footrest then angles up toward the back of the bike and it attached to the frame near the back by way of a hanging 'S' bracket and a spacer.

Apart from a modified bracket to re-fit the indicators everything fits back on the bike, fairings/hand grips/etc and you would hardly know the bracket is there.

All in all I'm we'll chuffed

If I have time I will post a picture of the finished product tomorrow.

Result ..... If you were a girl I'd say you had a nice rack fitted.

Pack rack performed really well this weekend, only criticism would be the base of the rack is a little small, with the bag on the back seat there wasn't room to strap the rest of my stuff securely so had to reverse it, place the bag backwards and bungee everything to the seat. Looking to attach a larger base to the rack to enable me to secure the other items to the back. Bit of Alum tread plate attached to some MDF should do it

Just to let you know John I'll be happy to take some pictures of the brackets fitted now they're on and provide dimensions, angles and fitting instructions as well if you wish to have a go at reproducing something similar.
