Re: Oh ! The joy's of biking
Never seems to stop does it!
Just had the back boot changed having had the front one done a month back. What you putting on same again?
I took the plunge and have gone for the latest and 'greatest' Pilot Road, downside they come at top shelf prices and had to wait for the 160/60's to be made, but wow was worth it. Claim to stick like baby what-sits to a blanket in the wet, the little water I have gone through sure seems it not marketing hype
Whatever you put on the bike will feel so much better, good to see you are getting ready to get on it

Re: Oh ! The joy's of biking
I'm giving Avon Storm2 Ultras a go . . . they get mixed reviews . . . I seek the holy grail of performance (all round sports touring) and longevity.
Had Pilot Roads (the bog standard ones) and was impressed enough but decided to move on and try sommat different.
Time will tell huh?
Yeah gettin ready to have a go . . . gotta get back in the saddle sooner or later . . . Time will tell with that too.
I've commited to BC now so I hope it works ???

Hi Tel.
Everything costs money......just always seems more expensive than the last time.
That'll be inflation, VAT and no wage rises, reduced hours or even no jobs.
Still since it's what we choose to spend our money on I guess we'll just need to get on with it and make ends meet as best we can.
Trust this means that your back troubles are not going to put a stop to your biking.
Cheers
Rosco
Ps I'm and Avon storm ultra 2 man myself and really rate them.
I found a video of a trackday in the wet which I'll post up soon.

Re: Oh ! The joy's of biking
Well I'm pushing the boat this year, after my troubles earlier.
New chain
New sprockets
New plugs, oil and filter
New battery
Complete new set of plastics
Should be on the road for early June.

Re: Oh ! The joy's of biking
Rubber Hoops didn't arrive till well late today so couldn't be fitted . . . BUGGER !! Booked in for tomorrow now
So I took the chance to remove the old Hein Gereke battery optimate thingamybob and replace it with the optimate 4 I got for me birthday and been to bloody idle to fit.
Only took me 8 months to get around to it . Still all done up and operational now :whoop:
Got a 10 year plus trickle charger (still functioning) sitting going begging if anyone could use one.
The connecters between the battery and the charger could do with some tlc . . . but if it's free to a needy home that's a small thing . . . huh ?

Oh no, know the feeling. Upside is you'll have more time to scrub them in. I'm not sure if you know, the latest tyres need at least 200 miles scrubbing in on a single ride, otherwise you got to start all over again Lovely excuse anyway.
Enjoy, and the usual, take it easy for the first 5 mins

I am getting new tyres this week and am going for these Ultra 2's again.
I think they are great. Had them on the Blade, and have them on the Blackbird. Not sure exactly about the mileage as my mates used the BlackBird for a long time and the Blade got sold with them still on but I know they've done well.
The BlackBird is a big heavy bike and they have behaved perfectly well on any hard braking (muppets in BMW's looking at you then pulling out infront of you anyway ) acceleration and cope perfectly well with a bit of knee down action on the bus too.
So I think they are great and I'm getting another set.
P.S. Don't worry about the band that appears across the centre when you've done a bit of mileage, just where the compounds change. I don't remember any other tyres doing it, and I've only ever dual compound tyres, but I could be wrong.

Re: Oh ! The joy's of biking
Wet performance ??? Not that it matters really as they get fitted tomorrow
But good to know what to expect.

Re: Oh ! The joy's of biking
I had a thread on here a while back asking about tyres and I said I'd gone for the Avon Storm 2 Ultras. Can't find the thread now but I thought I might as well add that I'm pretty pleased with mine after about 1200miles.
I can hardly claim to be knowledgable about such things, but they seem to suit my steady riding style just fine. Only done a few miles with them in the wet and I tend to go even steadier, but they handled well (maybe a slight twitch on the front end once but that could've been me imagining it).
