Best Biking Roads Empty Best Biking Roads

Post  greencat Mon May 09 2011, 23:22

There's been a flurry of video postings recently and, in the past, there have been several threads dedicated to great biking roads so I thought maybe they could be brought together in one place?

I'll start with my recommendation which I recently 'discovered' on holiday, but had the misfortune to have to negotiate in a Corolla 1.3 wall
Passed by a guy on an R1. Mad What I would have given to swap - sod the wife and child! naughty

Faure Marine Drive, R44 from Gordon's Bay to Pringle Bay, South Africa. Enjoy! I wish I could have. Crying or Very sad

Erm.....the scenery is too distracting.
I'd need to do it at least twice. Well twice there and twice back I think.

Let me get the 'Long Way Down' video so I can plan my route Shocked

I could just cheat and say click HERE?

This is a fantastic road out in Spain between Tossa De Mar & St Feloieu (just north and west of Barcelona) was our breakfast run each day on a trip a group of us from here did a few years back . . . .

I believe Rosco and Co. discovered it too ?

Aahhh Chapman's Peak Drive drool. Not to make anyone jealous I have done this on a bike - that was before it got closed and rebuilt after rock slides finally resulting in someone's death. Lovely to see that again and the weather looking good, can be so unpredictable there.

A Southern Ride out anyone?

Anyone done the B500 out of Baden-Baden to Freudenstatd? I've probably done it about 1/2 a doz times over the years, its about 60 klics and climbs quite steeply with hairpin after dizzying hairpin. The locals use'to converge on the place at weekends, racing up and down, with so many crashes incidents, and injuries, that the local authority finally decided to bar bikes from it at weekends. If you'r ever in the area its definitely worth a detour. Tes

Whoever was riding that bike and filming on the 1000 bends is lucky not to have crashed me thinks! However I think I would have been the same Rolling Eyes anyone know any advance riding courses to help with fast bends? I would absolutely love to ride out there one day Very Happy

Totally agree Mr France. That wasn't pretty.
@2.30 - far too close to centre line had to take evasive action and then hope he could stop and/or swerve back in. Take it wide you loony

@5.05 & @8.30 - do they just choose to use the other side of the carriageway or run wide and be thankful there was nothing there???

Need to give a little benefit of doubt as the rider does (or should) see a lot more than the camera.

Painful to watch at times....Although it brought back memories of when I did it.
I must have done it better than that(couldn't had been worse)

Needs a lesson in road positioning for corners to be safer and smoother IMOH

Here's the road we did in Germany, called "the Kyffhäuser". It's only about 3 miles but it's relentless corner-after-corner and is pretty hard work! Video is just randomly off of Youtube.

We did 3 runs in each direction.
