Re: new tyres for my cat ??
All depends James, there is no problem with just changing one tyre at a time as long as they 'match' the other one.
What tyre do you have on the rear? I always used to run Bridgestone BT010 front and BT020 rear on my cat, think the equivalent now is BT 014 and BT 021. They seemed a good compromise between grip and longevity.
I know a few people swear by Michelin Pilot Roads.

I'm one of them, have the dual compound. I normally get 9-10 k miles out of mine, also have had a tendency to wear both at the same rate, so have always changed front and rear.
My current rear seems to have lost a lot of rubber on the sides whilst up your way recently Jason, if you find any, could you please send it back to me
As Chris said, if you replace with the same or similar tyre (same brand) then a front only is OK. If you're looking at a different brand, then you'll need to change both.
Check the back tyre hasn't squared off, you may have plenty of tread left but have a distinct 'flat' section in the centre of the tyre and a ridge to the rounded bit - not so nice to ride on.

It's when the central section of the tyre wears away more quickly than the sides (squares off) due to the bike spending most of the time upright-ish. Imagine a semi circle with the top chopped off.

Re: new tyres for my cat ??
A bit extreme . . . . but the right hand tyre shows what is meant by squared off. It has a very distinct flat (squared off) central profile.

Hope that helps

Re: new tyres for my cat ??
The 1st one i had was the black/silver/orange and the 2nd was the blue/white.
My opinion is the blue one is by far the nicest colour scheme

Re: new tyres for my cat ??
We're not getting into this again are we??!!! The yellow and silver is by far the best looking..... I have a red and white thunderace now but if it had been available in the colours of the 'cat I'd have been a lot happier! (Though I was looking for the black and orange 'cat before I saw the yellow one...)
