shock Derbyshire Rideout AKA The Devils Arse - names please

Post  ellie Sat Jul 19 2014, 22:07

First topic message reminder :

Having just been to Castleton, we realised what an awesome place it would be for a rideout.

The roads around (if you find the right ones) are superb and of course the views stunning.

There are 6 pubs, all with accommodation, great beer and food.

There are B&B's, YHA, and camping nearby.

http://www.peakdistrictinformation.com/accommodation/b-and-b/castleton.php

It's very much like Bishops Castle.

Just a feeler really, maybe mid September or could wait till next year? I think it's less heavily policed in this area and a great place for a pub crawl.

Give me your thoughts peeps, I've never lead a rideout before so please be gentle with me.

Ellie

Nick & Ellie both nights & food.

Right folks, I've booked Friday night at the Cheshire Cheese pub over the road and I'll sort Saturday night tomorow.

We'll start @ 9am Cheshire Mews.

It's my first ever rideout Shocked so I'm secretly ok if there's not too many of us lol.

If anyone's still after accommodation, the youth hostel is gorgeous and recently renovated with private rooms available.

Hope the weathers fine as it's a lovely county.

Throw em in the bin and find another way, they're lethal!! Or get some practise attaching them, make sure they don't move a mm when they're fitted and even consider attaching them before you pack them, make sure the load is evenly spread between them, make sure they clear the exhaust and there's no chance of them slipping onto the exhaust or prepare to be losing your kit through the big hole burnt in them, stop every 5 minutes to check they haven't slipped, throw them away (have I said that?) and send your gear in a taxi.

Have I mentioned I don't like saddle bags?

I've never had a problem with em mark and I've got Steves old ones. just make sure to strap em on tight enough. Bungees, and rope does the trick. Never had them move on me nor burn on exhaust. So long as they are secure you'll be fine. As has been said though be careful whilst filtering and make sure the weight is even. Small strap goes under your seat and 2 thick straps go over your seat

Thanks for advice. I shall be sorting them out this weekend. As far as I can tell as didnt get instructions with them due to being second hand. The point end of the panniers goes towards the the blunt end of the bike. Lol cheers everyone.
