Re: what have you done today
Is this a 'Today' type thread?
Today I ran some Cat5, got home, had a drink and watched Transcendence [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] (pretty good btw).
Earlier today, as in 1am, I got a "Holy Shit!" Google Hangouts message from a mate in Texas.
..I nipped out on the bike on Sunday evening to fill the tank, but went the opposite way from home when I pulled out of the forecourt.
Upshot is I did 110 miles just following my nose...essentially taking the long way home by about 250x the direct route.
Anyhoo I sent him this pic when I stopped for a fag break:

(low quality, horizon well off) and asked him if he could spot the castle.
He couldn't, so I sent him this one.

That's Edinburgh Castle way over there, believe it or not.

Claims it's a 5 in 1, all I want it for is to be able to copy my videos from a SD card to a hard drive without having to lug my netbook around with me on bike trips. It has a battery which can be used to charge a phone, but for me it'll power the portable hard drive. It does need an app on a phone to be able to do the copy, which seems to be done via wireless (SD card via phone to Hard drive) but it doesn't seem to take much longer than the netbook to hard drive. Size matters and this and the hard drive are each the size of a smart phone, compact enough not to take up much luggage space.
At £30 it's a fraction of the cost of dedicated card to disk units I've seen.

Re: what have you done today
Yesterday I waited in for a builder to arrive, but he didn't turn up. At least I got a few jobs done round the house.
Today I did the same, but when there was no sign of him by mid-afternoon I went for a little spin round some of my favourite roads in the Cotswolds. Followed an Audi convertible all the way along the Charlbury TT, going too quickly to get past safely but not fast enough to be fun - grrrr.
Maybe tomorrow?

Re: what have you done today
Today I fought with the Angolan immigration office to release my passport so I can get back home.
The fight continues tomorrow or I'll need to cancel my flights.
For the moment I'm stuck in this shithole of a country with no passport to leave.

Re: what have you done today
Today I'm mostly being on hold with HMRC and CSCS.
...I also managed to fire off a contract application, so it's not a total loss so far.

It's one of those days when you need an eyeball on the top of your head to see where the rain is, then route around it.

Re: what have you done today
Today I skipped lunch, but noticed I've managed to get a bit of screen burn on my plasma TV with BBC News 24 on all day.
Watching the gowf and there's a faint impression of 'BREAKING NEWS' on the bottom left.
It's fading now though.
..
It's also still too hot and there's hardly a hint of the thunderstorms we were meant to get hit with.
