Thinking of SORN'ing the Cat.
Hi all,
in an effort to avoid selling my Cat I am thinking of putting her off road till next season to save on the insurance each month, fuel, new tyre etc.
One little question I haven't found an answer to is can you claim back the remaing tax disc if the bike is SORN'd.
My decision will be made when I have spoken to my issurance and found out what the cancellation fee is and how much SORN Insurance is. :(

Re: Thinking of SORN'ing the Cat.
Hi John,
Sorry to hear you're having to do this.
I think you can only claim back any full months left on the tax disc so do it before the month end! And often with insurance it's more cost effective to just let the existing policy run. It's the way they calculate refund percentages. Check out any charges for making changes to your policy too. Sometimes they can be quite a bit. Do your homework.
Cheers,
Chris

Re: Thinking of SORN'ing the Cat.
Hi Chris,
Hard decisions but I have come to the reality, better to SORN for a year than sell the bike.
Looked at one SORN Insurance via MCN and it requires a ground anchor if it is in a Shed.
Just talking to my Insurance company as I am hoping that if they can doit they may reduce the cancellation fee and maybe still be able to get my 1st years no claims.
I had to change insurance last november due the high mileage exceeding the insurance I had.
** Scrap that. It's paid over 9 months and the 7th just went out and it's £79 to cancel. **
Nothing quite falling right for me at the moment. Stiff upper lip.
Never know, this info may come in handy for someone else.
SORN is changing in as much that I believe you don't have to renew your SORN each year due to everything going Digital.
John.

Re: Thinking of SORN'ing the Cat.
Hi Mate,
well since I can't SORN it, and my insurance runs 'till November then I have just got to get the money together for a New rear tyre and carry on riding, lookout eBay.
It seems that some records (vinyls) are worth a little bit and I had a few in my store cupboard which are First Editions: Blind Faith, AC/DC, Motorhead, ELO & Deep Purple. The later Deep Purple is the Limited 'The Book of Taliesyn' with original plastic protective sleeve. My eye's lit up when one had sold for £104 (Link) So I will try my luck.
Got to have some luck soon as I have now found that someone has reversed into my car scuffing the front left of the bumper round to the wheel arch, no one saw anything and there are not camera's!

Re: Thinking of SORN'ing the Cat.
Had been thinking if you were up for the Meldreth manor bike show last night (near Royston).
I'm on this link and I'm sure mine was the only Cat there, didn't see an Ace either. My Ninja buddy is in pic next to mine.

Re: Thinking of SORN'ing the Cat.
We have Ashby Foleville just down the road and that gets packed out with biker and customised cars.
The photogoropher needs to get his site re-done as it relies on cookies too much.
Still working on the tyre so that I can join you sometime.

Re: Thinking of SORN'ing the Cat.
Hope you get sorted bud and can get a tyre. Check Maxxis, they were doing a pair for £134, not the sporting tyre, but at least you would be out there!
