Tis rather interesting, though could there be ground clearance issues with the massive chuck of box metal hanging out underneath it.

With that rear sprocket and electric power it must take off like a missile, though if you rode it like that you could be asking lots of home owners along your route for some juice front their plugs....

Those electric motors aren't very reliable yet either, but all a step in the right direction for electric bikes.
Will need to have 'audio' fitted so we can still 'hear' the engine !! What'll be next? download an engine exhaust audio file from the iBike shop Smile

i think you guys missed the point...
yup it is a shit idea for a bike..no noise means nobody can hear you coming.....BUT the technology is there....FFS give it 10 years and i reckon these bad boys will be on the market..they will make it make a noise like a conventional bike..
Has anyone on here ridden one of these electric bikes?? i was lucky enough to have a go on a test bike. If you think the Acceleration is quick on a litre sports bike, think again..the power on these things are instant and constant...with zero noise it is a bit off putting..but bloody hell what a kick!!

We wil see what happens in the future!!

Dave i agree,, have driven some test electric cars and boy do they go, the shove is constant and hard, this tech is so in its infant stage due to what can be achieved ' fuel ' wise, but hydrogen fuel cell technology is the way they are going to go as batterys just will not do , trust me a LOT of money is currently being spent on making it, and distribution, a fleet of 22 hondas is on permanent running in america others are world wide !!!

Good on 'em.

Interesting choice of bike though. The cat is a heavy bike, if they chose something with an aluminum frame they'd probably get more miles out of it?

Unless they needed a steel frame because of the weight of all the batteries?

I'd love a go on a leccy bike. By the time they come out though we'll probably have to wear day glo undies, have a government issued datalogger fitted and there will be stickers all over it saying 'warranty void if broken'

My 'noise' reference was tongue in cheek, it seems that there are objections to the bikes based on this. I believe that some designers are adding 'sound'.
The TT has a class racing electric bikes and the progress year on year is amazing. On the Bluray version of TT 3D one of the 'extras' is a feature on the electric bike class.

I'm sure people said that horseless carriages would never replace horses.
