Travel to Bishop's Castle
It's getting to that time where I am getting restless about the next ride-out. I have started looking at routes from Reading to BC, taking the more enjoyable roads. I have the Friday off work so will take a leisurely ride up during the day some time. Anyone else travelling up this day from the south/south-east?
Current thinking for a route looks like this:
Reading
Wantage
Lechlade
Cirencester
Gloucester
Ledbury
Leominster
Ludlow
Craven Arms
Bishop's Castle
This isn't cast in stone but avoids motorways and most dual carriageways. The further from home I get the less I know the roads, so happy to take advice on that front (without adding too much extra distance). Google Maps says this will take just over 4 hours, but I'll obviously stop along the way.
If anyone is coming in from other direction, I'm happy to detour to meet along the way.
Getting excited!!

Re: Travel to Bishop's Castle
hi weasley,
nanabana (anna) and i aren't that far from cheltenham/gloucester and as long as she feel ok with going that way to BC would be cool if we could tag along.
As I said will need to check if anna is up for going that way, I certainly am as motorways bore me senseless!
If we were able to come along we'd probably be able to meet you near gloucester somewhere

Re: Travel to Bishop's Castle
I'd much rather go the a and b roada as the motorway will not be fun at all, but got to do what anna is happy with, though the ride over would be a good warm up for the saturday ride out hopefully

Re: Travel to Bishop's Castle
At a guess I'll leave around midday-ish, but no real fixed plans. Happy to meet up around Gloucester er somewhere convenient if that meets approval I think from Gloucester onwards there's not really any workable motorway route that's not a massive long way around.

Great route. I will be travelling from Kidderminster, leaving home around 4 or 5pm, so we might cross paths!

Does this work?
Link to my proposed route.
Note, the start point is the town centre, not my house!

Re: Travel to Bishop's Castle
You're more than welcome, however I am unsure as to what time I will be heading off yet as my mate finishes work at 3pm but he is trying to get off early. If he can't then won't be leaving til around 4pm.
Up to you... Twins? You mean you've lost weight?

My fault [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] too many Pauls', had intended on asking Weasley
Weasley and I had the same bike colouring. As they are rare in the UK, we called them the twins when they were together [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Not likely! I have lost a bit, not that anyone will notice [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]mrfrance wrote:Up to you... Twins? You mean you've lost weight? [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Re: Travel to Bishop's Castle
We're leaving Chezzy Friday afternoon 3ish if anyone's passing through.
If your new to rideouts and want a look at the review from last years BC, it's in the vault. Radars review is a cracking read.
