Travel to Bishop's Castle
First topic message reminder :
It's getting to that time where I am getting restless about the next ride-out. I have started looking at routes from Reading to BC, taking the more enjoyable roads. I have the Friday off work so will take a leisurely ride up during the day some time. Anyone else travelling up this day from the south/south-east?
Current thinking for a route looks like this:
Reading
Wantage
Lechlade
Cirencester
Gloucester
Ledbury
Leominster
Ludlow
Craven Arms
Bishop's Castle
This isn't cast in stone but avoids motorways and most dual carriageways. The further from home I get the less I know the roads, so happy to take advice on that front (without adding too much extra distance). Google Maps says this will take just over 4 hours, but I'll obviously stop along the way.
If anyone is coming in from other direction, I'm happy to detour to meet along the way.
Getting excited!!

Re: Travel to Bishop's Castle
We're leaving Chezzy Friday afternoon 3ish if anyone's passing through.
If your new to rideouts and want a look at the review from last years BC, it's in the vault. Radars review is a cracking read.

You don't want to call yourself that, I've just watched a BBQ program and you don't want to know what he did to a spring chicken...ellie wrote:Yes im a spring chicken.
Rubbed it with salt, pepper, paprika and brown sugar, shoved a can of beer up it's jacksy and cooked it over hot coals for an hour and a half

Re: Travel to Bishop's Castle
Yeah it looked pretty tasty, can't vouch for how the quail felt when he squeezed it onto a can of pineapple juice though

Re: Travel to Bishop's Castle
I am having to leave at 8.20am so I can call by the Daughters school for when the ex drops her off so I can say bye (She's 12 today by the way), and although I am travelling over on the Friday she will be flying to Florida on the Saturday so won't see her for 2 weeks! :(
At least we will have Skype for video chats.
Dave, at the mo. I may be taking a slow, as scenic as possible route via Northampton and top of Banbury (which isn't too far from you) then toward Worcester, so I will PM you my mobile just in case (think you have the old number).
