The week for damage.
Oh dear it seems to be the week for damage - my poor cat is in the wars.
Unlike me but last night after getting back late from Hunstanton I didn't put the curly cord across the ignition (u see where this is going). I got off litely I suppose as I was wheeling it back when the disc lock tried to go through my front wheel cover. I can glue the damage, it's not as bad as it could have been and only cosmetic, but will have to keep an eye out for a blue one on eBay - my baby deserves to look pristine since she looks after me.
mmm. Worried now, is this going to earn me my first numptypoint? :(

If that were the case, then many more would be sporting points. I get over the problem by not owning a disc lock, but everyone's security requirements differ.
Horrible feeling non the less when something like that happens, hope you can get a replacement without too much trouble or cost.

As pointed outManor69 wrote:mmm. Worried now, is this going to earn me my first numptypoint? :(
The usual maxim for gaining numpty-points is actually getting CAUGHT or SEEN or worse still PHOTOGRAPHED (and published on site) doing something numptyish. Here's the [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] to numptyness points.SteveCat wrote:If that were the case, then many more would be sporting points.
Re: The week for damage.
Heck - I'll second it (self - nominated, witness'd or not)
I need someone to catch up with me.
Hat's off for the self nomination.
I had disc lock incidents (about 5 on the my bandit, normally resulting in me falling off @ 0mph) and only one on the thundercat......I don't use them anymore!!! I'm not nominating myself for them though......it was a very long time ago.

Re: The week for damage.
I have been very religious on putting the curly cord across the ignition. Maybe it was the adrenaline ride home with someone on and R1 that distracted me.
I never thought to check the disc, I will do before going home tonight.
Thanks for making me feel better about it - I am yet to fall of the bike (stationary or otherwise) and have now covered over 4,000miles since 1st June - Show me the road!

Re: The week for damage.
All this disc lock talk reminds me of an incident that happened at Devils Bridge about 12 years ago. It was a really busy Sunday morning, lovely weather, and at least 200 bikes in attendance. A young lady returned to her bike which was at the end of a row of about ten other bikes, (you know where this is going d'ont you) fired up her strusty steed, selected 1st and set off, or rather did'nt, the disc lock was still in place. Bike stalled, she could'nt hold it upright, so over it went into the next bike and the next setting up a dominoe effect which took all 10 bikes down. God knows how much damage was caused, I did'nt stick around to hear the language and the other stuff. Funny though, never ever saw that young lady again.

Witnessing one embarrassing face plant was all it took for me to swear I'd never buy one.

Re: The week for damage.
OH I may as well add to this. I bust my front mudguard within DAYS of owning the cat. Disc lock took a good 5" chunk out. I just glued it all up and put a sticker over it (I'm less concerned about cosmetic stuff but that's not necessarily a positive trait in me)
Fortunately I got two stickers in the pack I bought, cos I did it again a few months later. This prompted the purchase of a squiggly cord.
I've not done it since.

Re: The week for damage.
I'll take a point, doing it once is bad, doing it twice is just plain numptyness.
However, I did upgrade to Carbon front mudguard after the second one.
