Big Off
First topic message reminder :
Just had a fairly big off, between Hawes and Bainbidge on the A684 It happened on a very tight blind S bend, some very kind individual has dumped a huge amount of oil right across the road, the bike was down before I new what had happened with me following it. Badly damaged all down the left side, panals mirror bar end and worst of all the silencer (the'er £650 for starters) so its going to be an expensive repair. Police were fairly quick on the scene, and the officer was really helpfull, once he'd made sure I was OK he took off down the road to see if he could find the culprit, however he returned empty handed, but has promised to make more enquiry's. Its almost a criminal act, you dont drop that amount of oil, without knowing it, and more importantly doing something about it. So hopefully the barsteward can be found and I can claim against him/her (probably a farmer) otherwise its byby ncb. Anyway managed to ride it home slowly, footpeg smashed so difficult changing gear, just hope I can get it into some kind of shape fot BM

Re: Big Off
Just spoke to Carole Nash the estimate for repairs is £7,900 so they will write it off. Down to haggling now on how much they offer. Watch this space.

Re: Big Off
Pretty good result methinks, assessor phoned yesterday to discuss value. I'd had in my head that if I got £6000 it would be a good result considering the mileage (54,000) However with a little bartering I managed to get £6,800! Bloody brilliant!!!!!! I still have the panniers to sell, as they wer'nt on the bike at the time of the accident and are worth between £250 and £300. I've got to say Carole Nash have been absolutely brilliant throughout this whole matter. Less than three weeks from the accident to the agreed payout. The value of the bike quite contradicts my earlier post of running costs and a depreciation value of £4,500.

Re: Big Off
This weekend in Leyburn is the annual 1940s event. Lots of old military stuff, jeeps tanks etc. There was also a line up of old cars including an absolutely mint 1936 Austin 7 van, looked like it had just rolled out the factory.
The panniers are for sale because after 06 panniers came standard so if I buy another it will be an 07 or later, just been to see an 09 with 6,000 miles on, might be able to nick it for about £7,800

Re: Big Off
Hi all after lots of dithering and procratinations I've finally made up my mind, I've looked at all sorts of bikes, even travelled all the way down to Milton Keynes to look at a BM K1300 GT SE on Sunday. Idealy I fancied something a bit smaller, but with shaft drive leckie screen and some of the luxuries to "which I've become accustomed" nothing seems to fit the bill. So its yet another FJR 1300, this one is in black and silver, and it really looks the "mutts nutts" its an 09 model (58 plate) and done just 5,000 miles. I gave £7,850 for it, which considering they now cost new £14,600 in my view constitutes quite a bargain. See you all on the S&T
