Big Off
First topic message reminder :
Just had a fairly big off, between Hawes and Bainbidge on the A684 It happened on a very tight blind S bend, some very kind individual has dumped a huge amount of oil right across the road, the bike was down before I new what had happened with me following it. Badly damaged all down the left side, panals mirror bar end and worst of all the silencer (the'er £650 for starters) so its going to be an expensive repair. Police were fairly quick on the scene, and the officer was really helpfull, once he'd made sure I was OK he took off down the road to see if he could find the culprit, however he returned empty handed, but has promised to make more enquiry's. Its almost a criminal act, you dont drop that amount of oil, without knowing it, and more importantly doing something about it. So hopefully the barsteward can be found and I can claim against him/her (probably a farmer) otherwise its byby ncb. Anyway managed to ride it home slowly, footpeg smashed so difficult changing gear, just hope I can get it into some kind of shape fot BM

Re: Big Off
Oh dear Terry, so sorry to hear this. I do hope you are OK and its only the thumb. Wishing you a speedy recovery and all the best on getting the bike sorted.
Think I need to invest in some crash bungs, they do seem to be engine savers.

Re: Big Off
Shit, not good to hear. As the gent higher up said there've been a few ''offs'' this year.
I'm just about getting around after three months. Ankle still swollen like all buggery and I can move my hands/wrists around without too much pain.
Split oil/diesel/hydraulic oil/coolant whatever .. it's just not fair.

Re: Big Off
Sorry to hear of the off Tez.
As others have said, itz but a matter of parts and funds to put the bike back in order. Body parts are not so easily repaired. Take care.
Hope you recover well and soon.

Re: Big Off
Nightmare Terry. One of those unavoidable things on your part but the bugger that dropped all the oil probably knew about it as you say. Glad you're not too bashed up, you are a tough un anyway!
Hope you make it to BM, would let you jump on the back of mine but you would get bored with the pace!
Take care

Re: Big Off
Thanks again for all the good wishes, but bad news for Big Mac I,m afraid, got the bike to my local dealers today, but on more detailed inspection he decided that the job was just to big for him to tackle. Its gone down to an approved repairer in Altricham, and to be quite honest I doubt Ill see it again. I'm pretty sure it will be written off. What a bummer!

If it is written off . . . . you gonna go for another FJR ?
Re: Big Off

Re: Big Off
Sorry to hear this, didn't sound like there was much you could do.
Hope you get a reasonable pay-out.
Could you get a loan bike off the insurance?
A friend of mine has just had his XJR1300 flattened by a errant police car (!) and he is running around on a 1250 Bandit from his insurer.
Just to cheer you up

Glad youre okay Tel.
Shame about the bike. Hopefully you'll get two wheels ready for BM. Other wise just use the A7.

Re: Big Off
Do'nt think Mr Eddie would take too kindly to that as he's intending to attend said event on said KTM. No joy with a courtesy bike, and a hire bike would cost nearly 6 hundred quid for the week.

It is a tricky one, your policy may allow you to ride a bike which is not yours 3rdParty basis.
It's a pity we're far apart, have a Thundercat which might be available.

Re: Big Off
Just playing Terry, but if you really wanted to come you can go pillion for some of it, I'll give you mine to ride for a good few miles and I'll jump on the back of someone etc etc... Sure a few people would offer the same?
