Not quite home yet but home for this evening.

249.3 mile rideout complete.

What a great idea having our digs built into the pub, restaurant and night club.
Weather was superb. Ride was fantastic....well it was at the front!

Great to see Kev and for Kev to see friends old and new.
He was looking forward to the visit as were we.

Met with Kev's mum Sue and his brother Neil too .... Oh and Sue's doggie Kimmie.

Pictures, video and stories to follow.

Big Thanks to everyone who attended. It was great to meet friends new and old.

Cheers

A day of firsts for me and the Cat, and very enjoyable it was too.

After ownership of the Cat for just 17 days I tootled along not kowing quite what to expect as never been on a group ride-out before having just passed in October last year and not having had the weather for it nor the confidence to ride with the old timers old . Thanks to everyone for your tips, encouragement and welcome.

Things I have learned :

My back tyre doesnt like gravel
My Cat seems to like daffodils and tried to collect a few for posterity
Better lines for cornering
A Thundercat ride out doesnt have very many Thundercats
Never take directions from Rosco and not clarify which road the A71 is - I ended up back in Livi on my short cut home

A couple of firsts :

Both wheels off the ground
A toe scraper through a right hander

All in all a very enjoyable day out once I got used to the pace and relaxed a bit into the ride.

Woke up this morning to two sore shoulders and a numb bum, but with a huge grin thinking of the ride. Hope your heads are not as sore as my shoulders and you all have a safe ride home.

Look forward to the pics

Hopefully meet up for another of these later in the year - shifts, money and brownie points from the mrs allowing

Cheers

Back home safe and sound.
I had a fantastic weekend and looking forward to seeing other folks photos and stories. I'll have some caption competition photos later this evening I hope.
It was great to see old friends and make new ones too.

Fraz - Glad you enjoyed it and didn't inherit daffodil brake calipers. ps. I don't even trust my directions so neither should you!
Euan and I stopped by the windfarm on the way home so I might have a new avatar soon.
Managed to drop my phone off the bike (Doh!) fortunately I was doing 15 mph and not the national speed limit officer at the time. It survived with some minor flesh wound.

Terry Lees has a new nickname - Depth-Charge-Terry ........ story to follow but you've probably already worked it out.

Can't wait will the next one.

Cheers

Well me and Angela back safe and sound on my tractor.... Thankfully when the dot 4 was put into the clutch fluid resevoir I had no problems at all on the ride back, just the indignity of people turning round to see what was making all the racket!

Big thanks have to go for the organisation, twas exemplary again and I really enjoyed catching up with old faces and meeting new ones too.

Back home safe and sound with a dead rear tyre and another 1100 plus miles on my little bike.
Thanks to Ross for sorting out everything from the rooms to the night club, pub, free entertainment and a great route for the ride out on Saturday. Had a great time at the karting and a good trip up and back thanks to routes by Terry and Chris. Just keep an eye on those "Z" bends in the future Chris.
Looking forward to seeing the pictures.

Yes, the touring bike and the little Ninja arrived home safely aswell today. Roughly around the 790 mile mark for the new sports tourer it was for me.

A cracking weekends rideout but kept getting punted while karting, so i'm going to look up the rule book on that note.

Linz is sore (arse, brain, hips & arms), non of it to do with me infact. Oh, sore lungs aswell, but thats because of Ewan with his jokes and realities of life.
A massive thankyou to Ross for all his effort and thanks to all the others, as it was a pleasure riding with you all.

Catch ya all laters....

Thanks Ross and the Tail end Charlies'. Also to everyone there, one of the better marked rides - well done.
Good to see old friends and meet new.

Pics are here.

Arrived home eventually around 11pm last night :( Traveled about 1 200 miles.
Got a slow puncture somewhere around Manchester, Services hopped till Oxford. Had figured I could make the last Motorway services before joining the M25 where I'd be on my own.. Then I hit traffic, start filtering and change down .. down, go on down - nope no movement in the gear lever. Stuck in 5th and filtering in lanes 2&3 Crying or Very sad Eventually get into 3rd, but the traffic clears and it will not change up. Get to the services and find the air station isn't working. Thought I'd have a look and see what is wrong with the gearbox before giving in and calling the AA.
Chain seemed extremely loose (here we go again!!) get out spanner and loosen the rear axle bolt. Woah, it isn't tight - I panic as I think back over how I've been riding the past 30 hours since the mechanic worked on the 'chain grind'. Then I spot the problem, one of the sprocket cover Allen bolts was loose and wedged itself into the gear lever.
I decided that I was changing the tyre so rather than call the AA I bought some tyre weld gunge. Saw a little of the stuff come out of the tyre and realised there was no way I'd have found that and plug it myself (I do have a puncture repair kit under the saddle! Rolling Eyes )
All seems fine get onto the M25 and the fuel light comes on (wtf), thats' 50 miles too early :what else wall (no, I didn't run out)

Think my guardian angel is taking a rest now

Yeah . . . . that's a shame fraz, but despite our best efforts, we can't seem to get the very many cat owners on here to come out 'n' play on the meetings.
Most of those that do attend have all had cats tho, but since moved on bike wise. The forum celebrates it's tenth birthday this year after all.

There were 5 bikes out of 22 that were Thundercats I seem to remember and half the bikes were Yamaha.

Rosco's
WFW's
Stevecat's
BillyW's
FrazMcFraggle's

2 x Thunderace's (WKW's & Mevsyd)
2 X Yamaha R1's (Robcat & Sean
2 X Yamaha FJR1300R (TerryLees & Christian)

Yamaha was well represented.

All my photos (with a couple of Euan's are HERE )

ps. Congratulations to Lee for winning the "What a numpty T-shirt" for leaving his heated grips on all night resulting in a dead Ninja. This was noticed after 90% of the riders and bikes had moved outside the car-park and were starting to melt in the sunshine. Well done to everyone who got him going again!

pps. We need the T-shirt back as someone is no doubt going to be a numpty at Big Mac.

Cheers

You were there Davie and did a brilliant job of back marker for the afternoon (at least your bike was at the actual rideout and not chained to the railings at the digs, unlike my Ninja) lol2

We had a brilliant weekend and I am very pleased I rode there and back on my own bike.

Oh Dear Rolling Eyes Gone and put me foot in it again Embarassed Embarassed

My apologies folks . . . I didn't mean to sound ungrateful to all those that attend the well organised meetings or those that put all the hard work into making them happen.

It would be nice for this to happen again though
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

I'm sure we have enough cat owners out there to balance the numbers great and have as many (if not more) in the frame as all the other models.

Aside from the Hartz (Germany) Trip . . . Our next "Something for the Weekend" is Bishops Castle in mid June. Already doing well for sign-ups , c'mon the cat owners time to rally forth [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

pmsl

Didnt realise my innocent comment about Cat numbers would create a wee debate.

Just had a look through the pics and some great ones in there and a good reminder of a fab day out. Just a pity I couldnt join in with the Friday and Saturday night festivities but hopefully next time. At the moment looking at possibility of doing the Surf n Turf, just need to double check shifts and will take it from there.

Once again cheers all for the warm welcome to the Cat owners and former Cat owners gang
