Love Yamahas
Hi folks,
I'm new here and have a small collection of carb Yamahas. Three bikes, R1 4xv 1999, Thunderace 2000 and recently acquired Thundercat 1998. They are all red/white/black and lovingly maintained. Not garage queens though.
The best thing for me is riding comparisons on a daily basis. I have much to say, but this isn't the time.
Cheers,
c.

Hi Rosco,
I've never met anyone, either in 3d or online, who has three Yamahas in the same colours. I'm letting it sink in.
Yes, I would ride to a meet up.

PS - I was born in Lanarkshire. Now that would be a long ride!

Small world. Where abouts in Lanarkshire? I’m originally a Wishaw man but now in Shotts.
The 98 thundercat is the only official red white and black one.

The 98 R1 is white and red (black if you include the tyres)

The 2000 thundercat has a funky paint job (with red white and black in it)

Bristol isn’t that far away.
Have a look here

if you fancy any of next years runs.

Re: Love Yamahas
Rosco,
I was born in Bellshill in June 1948. My father (an English Southerner) took me South at the age of 4 and visits to my 'ain folk' were few and far between. Wonderful memories of my mother's family, but thin on the ground. My grandad was a church of Scotland minister, previously a steelworker, and ended his life in Hamilton. Oddly enough, my daughter has fondness for Scotland and has worked in Edinburgh. But, for me, Scotland is Glasgow. Good people.
I remember the road sign at the border with England -'Haste ye back again'.

Lovely to hear your story.
Maybe catch up on one of the rideouts sometime next year.
The one in May (Wee Mac) is the closest one to you and is a lovely place to stay.
Cheers

Just wondering Rosco how many dead bikes you now own. I know of 4 are there any more out there?

Looking after a bike is a bit like making love to a beautiful woman Terry.
But to answer your question....I’ve lost count exactly how many I’ve @*&%’ed

Guys,
This is a serious matter. Regular use is what keeps the carb jets clear, and I know from experience how much of a pain it is to clear out a set of Mikunis. Just starting up a bike every now and then isn't enough, we have to ride them and get the engine warmed through. IMHO three bikes is the maximum one person can handle over a long winter and have them running OK in the spring.
Rant over.
