Test ride on a couple of new Yamahas
Popped down to the local Yamaha garage today as the old man was going next door to pick up a new skid lid and got chatting to the matey about naked bikes and he offered me a spin on the new XJ6 and FZ8. Now i've ridden a few bikes but none newer then 1999 so I don't know whether it was the bikes or the fact that new bikes just all feel like it but they felt so light, weight wise and steering ... almost felt like riding the new ybr125 dad had for a bit while he was getting some practice in for his test.
Really odd sensation and found myself over steering into most of the corners ... XJ6 was a little lacking in power but the FZ8 really flew (obviously having no fairings probably assisted with the illusion of acceleration)
Maybe its just that i'm used to older bikes but they just didn't feel substantial enough even though there were both a shade over 200kg ... either way my Cat can sleep soundly knowing she isnt going anywhere soon ... quite literally as I came down this morning to find shes got a flat rear tyre grrrrrrrrr

Good to hear the cat still wins your heart! I think the idea with newer bikes it to be lighter give that impression with clever balancing and center of gravity but that doesn't please some of us who like 'em chunky
Mind you it's the only thing I like chunky as well as a kitkat

well technically I cheated on her after she let me down ... but its alright i'm still in love and so will she be when she gets her new tires, braided lines, brake pads and oil/filter that I ordered this afternoon ... by not buying a new bike i've 'technically' saved myself 7k so I could afford to spoil her
