Big Mac 2016 - Who's in? (22nd July 3 nights) New Lanark - two great rideouts
Hi Folks
Big Mac 2015 - Thinking of going to somewhere different this year in the Central Belt(ish) or South West of Scotland either New Lanark HERE or Newton Stewart HERE
Don't worry Highlands......we'll be back next year!!!
Ideally if everyone could stay all 3 nights if possible but we might be able to accommodate less nights if some folks really need it (I'll need to know this in advance)
(other accommodation available if youth hostel doesn't float your boat)
Friday 22nd July for 3 Nights - Rideouts on the Saturday and Sunday.
Prices will be cheap n cheerful as usual - rough guide - approx £35 pppn (give or take a bit depending on location / final costs) and that includes breakfast, evening meals (cooked by our talented in-house chef's(me & you) and drinks (although we might go out the Saturday or Sunday night)
We'd probably need a small deposit soon(ish) to confirm the booking and the rest in late May perhaps.
Will work out finer details once we've got enough numbers to go ahead with a booking.
Please reply with your details if you wish to attend.
e.g. Rosco & my big mate Dave - all 3 nights please
If we've got enough numbers by the end of the month i'll look I'll enquire about booking, getting deposits and making a booking.
Cheers
Rosco

GAAAAGH!!! In light of missing out on Wee Mac I was hoping to join Big Mac, but I'm away on holiday until the 16th.
Maybe next year.

I'm supposed to be up in Shetland until the 20th so unless things change I won't be able to make it

Or do the regular's suggest that the following weekend would be better suited to attend.
We are ok for either weekend 15th> or 22nd> but then things start getting complex for our weekends.

I'm ok for the following weekend too.
Since it is only us two (four) so far Rob then we 'could' change it.
Does that help you Weasley, DBD, Chris??

My year is just wedding after wedding!
I get back from Shetland on the 20th, have a wedding in Alnwick on the 23rd and another in Leyburn on the 30th. No free weekends until August for me I'm afraid.

I can make it either w/end but along with the other blue tinters would prefer a decent b&b or hotel.

There is the New Lanark Mill Hotel - a lovely hotel and a stones throw from the New Lanark Hostel (and a few others within a few miles).
Newton Stewart hostel is less than a mile north of Newton Stewart and has quite a number of Hotels and B&B's nearby too.
Hopefully we can narrow down a date and venue very soon to allow you to book up too.
Cheers

Weekend of the 22nd is better, but it is just a week after I will have been away for 10 days, so a bit tricky to swing at home and at work.
But not impossible.

Ross,
I can't commit to any dates just yet so prob best to book what suits the masses and hopefully I'll be home for it.
My rota is gonna get messed around as we are preparing to head to Egypt but nobody knows exact dates or what rotas we will be on once there.

Re: Big Mac 2016 - Who's in? (22nd July 3 nights) New Lanark - two great rideouts
At this rate of uptake everyone can just stay at mine..... even those 'crazy' bikers with the blue rinse
Ideally I'd like to be trying to book somewhere after this weekend.
So on the list so far is
Robcat, Linz & Euan
Terry Lees & his army of dads.
A tentative Weasley
A not quite sure BillyW
and me
There is (at the time of writing) availability at New Lanark Hostel and I believe that Newton Stewart is "Renta-hostel" so we need to be filling most of it to be viable.
Therefore New Lanark is the best option at the moment.

Re: Big Mac 2016 - Who's in? (22nd July 3 nights) New Lanark - two great rideouts
We can bring a tent if ne-bee Ross.
But seriously, it's a shame that so little amount of folk are coming forward or can make it for this get together.
Would the ' Dukes pass' be part of either of the days riding? That's some road that is....

Re: Big Mac 2016 - Who's in? (22nd July 3 nights) New Lanark - two great rideouts
Both locations are a bit too close to us to be worth staying over. Also kind of close to Wee Mac?
We'll probably make it for at least one of the rideouts though.

Cool be great to have you guys at the rideout(s).
It is kinda close to recent Wee macs'd but since we've based at broad meadows for a few years now and moved about up north for Big Mac I feel we've missed out on the south west.

Re: Big Mac 2016 - Who's in? (22nd July 3 nights) New Lanark - two great rideouts
Grand Job there Ross.
Be the nimble Fazer again for that road. Still brings a smile with those German bikers on the Dukes pass the last time I did that road!
South east is ok by me, been a while since we ventured there and the middle of Scotland (Trossachs) is quite lacking in other road user's.
Steve, you finally have a pic of DBD, but why only doing 33.7 kmh?

Re: Big Mac 2016 - Who's in? (22nd July 3 nights) New Lanark - two great rideouts
There are lots of great routes in the South West without having to go north of Glasgow.
Something like this for example. Lots of good choices though.

I'm sure Ross has some good ideas.

Not much of an uptake :(
How about we wait another month before booking anywhere?
If we get a few more then I think we'll look at booking New Lanark Hostel.
Cheers
