A real SMIDSY moment.

I had a 'perfect storm' moment a good number of years ago when I was approaching a T junction to join the main road and I was in the car.
As I approached the junction I looked left and right and saw nothing.  Did the same again as I got closer and "all was clear"

I 'knew' it was clear so proceeded to move onto the main road to turn right (and cut the corner a bit because there was no-one there)
As I did I noticed a car (not a pushbike or a motorcycle but a CAR) had appeared from my left and I was going to hit it.
I managed to swerve right and only just managed to miss it.

The speeds and positions of both cars were "perfectly timed" so that the car was hidden by the strut of my front/passenger side window.
These struts are much thicker now to protect the occupants of the car and arguably rightly so.

I find myself leaning backwards and forward and moving my head side to side now to try and stop this happening.
Sometimes it must look like Tommy Tippee is driving.

Shame he wasn't driving that truck in the video.

I saw this on visordown and the comments were full of people saying they would have got out the way, I say BS!

The first time I watched the video I genuinely panicked so I've no doubt I would have done something similar to this guy.
Watching back and knowing what was coming I saw plenty of ways out of it but as they say hindsight is a great thing.

Gotta love that old girl though.... pure humanity

Flee! Billy Whizz

He barely even slowed down.
Maybe it needs a regulation that they have to stop at the junction before turning left into a narrow street?

The A pillars and mirrors are a bit of a problem.
Similar to Rosco, I nearly lamped a Smart Car years ago as I merged onto a roundabout in a 7.5 tonner. Again it was tracking right behind the A pillar and mirrors.
(I was more careful after that)

You're not the only one, I hate how much of the road these pillars hide.
