Breaking 97 Thundercat
6 years of happy ownership is at an end! The cat is jumping from 2nd to neutral after 42000 miles, so it is time to part ways.
I am breaking the 97 cat, and though ownership have learnt some parts can be hard to get (fairings especially). I will sell the whole lot for £400, or parts individually to thundercat lovers. I cant seem to figure out how to put up photos so you see what you are getting... the condition of the bike is worn. Mechanically (until today) i would have said it was in good condition due to no issues and 4000 mile oil and filter changes. Cosmetically the cat is not so good;
the front fairing has been resprayed (black) and is actually in a state i will give this away.
the right fairing has been scratched significantly (again i wish i could put up photos)
left fairing is fine (red at the top black at the bottom)
rear side fairings are ok small wear marks towards the rear (white)
the very rear panel as worn (white).
the frame has a scratch on the lhs ( but it is straight)
rear swingarm has lost some paint towards the rear
Red tank with small scrach caused by the yoak when i lifted the tank
Front forks are in good condition and were rebuilt this year.
wheel are ok and tyres have a good amount of tread on them
rsu is fine
all the bearings move freely
lhs grab rail is fine
rhs grab rail is scratched.
I cant think what else to put down. Any questions about anything just ask. Collections can be made from sutton coldfield. Pricewise parts will be cheap, as i cant bear to see the bike scrapped!

Re: Breaking 97 Thundercat
Thanks for the help Oldcat!
Stator cover has some paint chips, the forks are in good condition, the swing arm has some paint missing on the top. I would prefer collection as i do not have the means to package everything up. I am still riding the bike, I just avoid the 2nd gear now, so you could always ride it away!

Re: Breaking 97 Thundercat
Is it just jumping out of 2nd all the time or just on hard acceleration? If it is rideable and t and t (just till I get back then I will take it

Re: Breaking 97 Thundercat
The first time it jumped was yesterday, it happened again. Then today I commuted on it, and it jumped out with only slight accelaration. I am commuting on it and avoiding second completly(I am shifting up twice). Where are you based? Also how do we swap details without all seeing?

Re: Breaking 97 Thundercat
Not to spoil the sale plans....
When changing up to second, release the clutch as normal and allow the gear lever to return to normal, then push the gear lever up again and it should then engage properly and not pop out under acceleration.

Re: Breaking 97 Thundercat
Hi Jefft,
Is this now sold ? Can I mark it as such ?
Oh, and when you get your replacement (whatever it may be), don't be a stranger buddy, you'll always find a welcome here
Cheers
