Rough running Empty Rough running

Post  purplegerbil Mon May 04 2015, 13:44

I am hoping this is just because i have not ridden it much and still used to twins/triples. At low revs it sounds odd, hard to describe but i would say kind of choppy. It could be simply that i am not revving it enough but at anything around tickover whilst moving it does not sound healthy. It does not feel rough just sounds it. I am guessing it is possibly not jetted for the exhaust fitted but could equally just be that i am not used to it.
Is this normal or is it something i need to investigate further ?

Might creating a video (perhaps to be shared via YouTube) be helpful to let the experts hear it ( and see the rev counter too)
Not sure how easy that would be whilst moving however unless you've got a talented helpful helper/pillion.
Good luck

It sounds the same as mine and I've been told by mechanic it just needs the carbs balancing so hopefully it's just that. Although I also need mine rejetting to due to aftermarket pipes.
Either way it's nothing to worry too much about

What pipes have you installed "dudeofrude" as most manufacturers I've looked at state "no re-jetting required"!!!

I'm not sure which manufacturer they are but stainless pipes with a 2 inch wide straight through race pipe (sounds the dogs doo dahs) but has lost some midrange since they've been on so I'm thinking it could do with a stage 1 jet kit
