Travelling to Wee Mac
As the title says, who's heading Sooth to Wee Mac?
I'll the weather is unbelievably fantastic I'll be getting off the Orkney ferry at Scrabster on Thursday morning at 8am and going down the West coast, stopping at Applecross on the Friday night.
If the weather is not bad, I'll be getting off the Shetland ferry at Aberdeen on the Friday morning at 7am and winding my way down spending the day on many twisty roads dependent on where the sun is shining.
If the weather is really shitty I'll get off the Shetland ferry at Aberdeen on the Friday morning at 9am, head straight to Broadmeadows and thaw out/dry off.
Whats everyone elses plan?

I'm sure this isn't what you are asking
I'll be taking the boring route : fight through London, M11, A1(M) A696 (looks interesting) A68

Aye me Chris, my plan is to pick up the A939 @ Nairn over to the A93, and meet Atholl (haven,t spoken with him yet) and then head down to Roscos for a bit of lunch, then on to Broadmedows..
This will be on the Friday, If you are going to Scrabster on the Thursday I could meet you somewhere along the way, and pop over to Applecross for lunch..

I'll keep you posted Dave, it's more than likely going to be Friday so would be good to meet you and Atholl en-route.

Looks like you won't get snow this year at least.

Re: Travelling to Wee Mac
Yes, we can do that, I'll replan my route to go up the M5 rather than the eastern side, as it's a reasonable distance and not heaps of time I'll be doing the dreaded motorways to break the back of the big miles.
What were you thinking we could need ? I'm not traveling alone [Guess that was predictive text ! ]
Possibly meet at the Asda Oldbury off the M5 J2.
It is Pam's first long trip on the Tracer, so might be doing unscheduled stops - as it is I tend to ride up to 90 mins and stop for her to have stretch. Mind you, I may welcome getting off the bike too - I have clocked up 1 800 miles, most of it has been OK but there have been times I've suffered an uncomfortable derrière
If you OK with the stops, we can arrange a time to meet.

PS: That would be a fair treck for Chris, off the ferry in Aberdeen/A96/A82/M8/Inverkip. We would be arriving @ your house @ 3pm. which would be a little late .....

What route/time you kicking off Terry? If yaw going scenic and fancy company, then I can meet up with thee someplace?
I'll do up to scotch corner, but that's as far as I'm willing to go on a numbing road.

Re: Travelling to Wee Mac
Just had a thought Rob, Whatever we decide re travelling up, why don't you come to mine? the kettle will be on and you can have a quick break. You could take the Ripon turn off on the A1M and come through Masham, about 20 miles of glorious switchbacks.

Re: Travelling to Wee Mac
Sounds like a good plan Terry. I can leave the house at any time. Will you be fuelling up at the usual place as I can top up there too on that Friday.
Just need to give the bike an oil change beforehand which will be done when I wash it next.

Re: Travelling to Wee Mac
I'll Probably be fuelled up, but not a problem, its only 1/2 mile up the road and won't take more than 2mins. Will keep you in touch. In fact out with the blue rinse brigade tomorrow so we might get a decision on a starting time.

Re: Travelling to Wee Mac
Hi Rob, We are going to meet up at Brough on Friday morning at 11.00 a.m. Its between 3/4 to an hour to get there from mine, so if you get here for about 9.40 we'll have plenty of time for a brew and fuel up. Can you remember how to get here?

Re: Travelling to Wee Mac
Nope. But I'll be having my beloved sat nav with me. Not been to your house yet. Had plenty of offers I know but I'll be there this time. Kick off at 8 I shall so that's plenty of leeway.
Oil is done on the bike and it will have its clean at the weekend. Fairing's are off already.

Re: Travelling to Wee Mac
Almost certainly won't be heading home on the Wednesday ferry now, I'm having problems with the brakes.....
Fingers crossed I get everything sorted early next week and can be ready for the off on Thursday night.
Lots of stars need to align just right to get me there on time. Micrometer, dial gauge and mityvac are on their way from Amazon, new discs on their way from the dealer in Peterborough (thanks YZFJohn!) and new SBS pads coming from eBay.

Re: Travelling to Wee Mac
Hi Rob, My house is really easy to find. Its on the main A684 a mile east of Leyburn, on the opposite corner of a pub called the Pheasant Inn. Right at the top of the bank in a village called Harmby. The post code is DL8 5PD but if your sat nav is like mine it will want to take you down the bank, there are 1 or 2 houses with the same PC. My house is called Hill House.
