Surf and Turf sign in
Big thanks to Terry for organising the weekend, had a cracking time (well apart from the incident on Saturday afternoon). Thanks to everyone there for a great time and I hope you don't feel too sore Bob and get sorted out soon.
Also kudos to Chris for not only taking Ross and I to the 68 but showing us a fairly rapid getaway on his new wheels!
Got back about 2 following a wee saunter up with Rosco.
Cheers
Billy

Re: Surf and Turf sign in
I got home around 1 after meeting a mate on way back for breakfast number 2 & having a little ride back with him. Bike is washed, dried & away.
Even though I didn't make the ride out the evening was well worth coming for, great to see old friendly faces & meet some new friends.
Thanks terry for you're efforts in organising a great meet.
Just sat in the garden in the sun having a beer while the gf makes roast chicken Sunday lunch

Re: Surf and Turf sign in
Yes we got back about 1 o'clock too. But in the morning!
Terrible fog which dropped the speed down to 30 mph until we got to the A1. Visibility was around 25 yds.
Good to have seen the regular crew and finally seeing Paul, Yamahamad. Didn't realise it was you when we was introduced. Wouldn't of asked ya what ya ride otherwise...
But thanks to the old and wise for organizing the meal too.
Rob, Linz and the minion, aka Ewan

Re: Surf and Turf sign in
Back home safe and sound.
Big thanks to Terry, Chris and the team.
The weather literally put a dampener on it but it didn't dampen our spirits and I thoroughly enjoyed the whole weekend with the obvious exception of Bob's off.
Hope you mend very well and very soon Bob and the bike gets sorted with minimal hassle.
I feel I'm still recovering from the Stag party I managed to infiltrate last night.
Would have preferred a hen night but beggars can't be choosers.
Thanks for the cuppa and our ride back in the sun Billy.
See you all soon.
Cheers

Hi all, Thanks for your good wishes.
I have sprained my wrist, bad graze on elbow, bruises, aches and pains etc.
AA got me home ok, very impressed with them! Would think the bike is a write-off!
See you at The big Mac!!!
Bob

Re: Surf and Turf sign in
Pam and I got home at 6.
Many thanks Terry and Chris for all the organising, good to see everyone - had a good time , hope you recover quickly Bob.
Was a good ride home, albeit a bit harsh ride with the rear suspension. Weather was OK till 30 miles from home when the heavens opened for about 6 miles, managed to dry out and thought that was that. Not sure if it was a fortunate mistake of accidentally ending up at the Woolwich ferry, but waited a few minutes for it, in which time there was a thunderstorm breaking, had enough time to get the waterproof jacket on before having to board, then it lashed it down - not time for the trousers, ended up rather wet - ah well.

Too much of both Rob, I guess I can't complain about the use by date - I estimate it's done about 140 000 miles, so for an original (albeit with an uprated progressive spring fitted 4 years ago) shocker it's done very well. I've done it no favours with my weight and all the gumph I've lugged about in the past.
I suspect it's the shock, could be the linkages - making some unsavoury noises (sounds like when you force a door closer shut) and is bottoming out too easily. Getting a replacement with an uprated spring is proving a challenge in the short time frame before BM, all but one manufacturer are quoting up to 4 weeks - might plumb for a Nitron and hope it is the lower of 5 to 10 working days.

Glad to hear you are in a mendable (on the mend) state Bob.
That is great that you are still able to make Big Mac too.
See you there.
Cheers

Re: Surf and Turf sign in
Blimey Steve. There was me thinking my rear shocker was needing a rebuild after 24k miles. Done marvellous that old shocker then for lasting that long on ya bike. Ross's lasted far less.
Which bike can you mussel away from your bro Bob, so you can attend the Big Mac? Glad ya not to ground down by your offsee.

Re: Surf and Turf sign in
Mine could have been whacked* years ago Rob, but with my rubbish riding I've not noticed
Had a call from Nitron today asking about my weight etc - had put it all on the website order, but the mere fact I've been called tells me they are onto it already. Nothing like getting yer hopes up.
Bob, that's great news
* It was supposed to have been rebuilt 4 years ago, but couldn't be done - was told at the time it was fine
