Re: New rider
Marvelous.
Well when your mobile with a 'Cat', give us a bell and I'll come with ya and give you encouragement. I had a Cat for 3 years and like others on here will testify, there comfy, decent wind protection, reliable and cheap to run. Also, go quite well in the right hands.
The local bike depot are a friendly bunch of guys, and quite helpful too. Dale, who works there is a good lad, currently my neighbor, who does the servicing of my bikes. Talks a lot too.

Re: New rider
Small world.
You at Dock tyres, Fretwell's or Paul Hewitt's?
The SV is an ok bike but prolonged use in the rain it starts stuttering as the front wheel throws up crap onto the forward spark plug. Sound nice with a couple of carbon cans on though.
Best off with the cat. Dale is a Yamaha freak anyway.

Re: New rider
Well done on the pass! I had an SV as my first bike..... Perfectly ok as a first bike, but I got bored pretty quickly. The brakes are rather rubbish, the finish is a little cheap. Never had any reliability issues though, and the fuel injection was a plus. I prefer the 'Cat I have now though. Much better all round (just a little heavier)!
