Surf & Turf - Discussion Empty Surf & Turf - Discussion

Post  Eddie990 Wed Nov 27 2013, 14:54

All,

Due to poor weather on the last couple of S'n'T rideouts and being held too close our Taste of Lincolnshire weekend we've decided to organise next years Lakes and Dales event for July.

Provisional dates are meet on Fri 18th, rideout on Sat 19th.

Any thoughts? Any of the regular surfenturfers have any objections to a change of date?

After last years freezing fog and damp roads the thinking is that weather will be much nicer, with the trade off being a possible increase in accommodation costs.

A change in venue is also in the offing so if any of you have a burning desire to visit a particular part of the Lake District or Yorkshire Dales nows the time to speak up.

Cheers,

Chris

We should be ok for that time of year.

Trying to plan next years 'get-aways' already we are so the more dates we know in advance, the better.

I should be up for this Chris, only slight issue is it is very close to Assen date (although we may be doing Barca next yr so possibly irrelevant). Mrs Snowcat spending fortune on train ride this weekend so brownie points well in credit.

Excellent, I've got a couple of possible venues and looks like I can get a deal for £50 pp for 2 nights Bunk & Breakfast in Reeth if there are 14 of us. Problem is there are only 14 beds so we'll be split between 2 locations a mile or so apart (but with a pub in the middle) if there are more of us than that.
I'll also need confirmed numbers and a 50% deposit prior to making a booking.

I did fancy staying somewhere a bit more lively, possibly returning to Richmond where there is more choice of pubs/restaurants etc but self catering accommodation is a bit thin on the ground and at the luxurious, tad pricey, £50 pppn end of the market.

The search continues.....

Yep, as Terry says there are loads in Reeth nearby Ellie.

Type Reeth into tripadvisor and see if there's anything you fancy, it's a lovely wee place and I imagine the b&bs will be a pretty good standard. It's very popular with tourists.

No need for a babysitter Ellie. Just bring Nick along, I'm sure nobody will mind the noise or the smelly nappies  Wink

Well our babysitter is called Linz on these ride outs. Good chance we'd have to bring the little lad with us. So as long as we are allowed to bring him, (80% chance we would have to) we are good to go.
