Off road expereince day - enduroland
just thought i'd stick a quick review of mine and rozy's (my mate who's coming to S&T) day out at the off road expereince day, put on by the Motorcycle industry association and the off road manufacturers.
I can't actually remember where I heard about it, I would hazard a guess at visordown.com but not entirely sure.
Anyway I digress, the event was a free event and was for the first 100 people to sign up, thankfully me and rozy were of them 100!
the weather was really good yesterday and made the whole day even more enjoyable if a tad sweaty at times!
we rocked up just intime to see the pro riders blitzing round the enduro track that was at the venue, with all sorts of things to jump over and avoid crashing into! we signed in and were sent to get kitted up with honda, all the kit was brand new and fresh out the box which was nice.
We had a quick breifing about the bikes by one of the instructotrs then went off for a welcome and safety briefing, which was well thought out and informative I thought.
then we ere herded ito our respective bikes to try 4 loops of a basic oval circuit 2 sitting down and 2 standing up, if you managed that you progressed onto a track with ruts and bumps and holes and dirt, dust loose surfaces and left and tights of varying sharpness.
on this second track we were shown how to use our legs to turn by sticking it out before the turn and leaning the bike to the inside of your leg. all very different to what we do on the road. having your leg out helped stop you binning it to when the tyres couldnt find grip, but most times are a bit of a slide and a bit of a kick up they gripped hard again and you were stonking it out of the corner.
we had a few goes on this track before progressing out onto the much tougher but also more fun enduro course, this had all sorts of different surfaces, going in and out of wodded areas, jumps, huge ruts open and tight corners, my personal favorite was tight hairpin that led to a big and steep hill which you then powered left at the top jumping into the next section of the track, I probably didnt get any wheels of the ground but felt like I was flying!
Considering this was the first time this had ever been run I thought it was extremely well put together and was impressed with what was on offer. hopefully a few more of these events will run now, so if you've wanted a go at off roading but not wanting to fork out a fortune certainly consider one of these days, aching lots today but still grinning!
me and rozy liked it so much we are thinking of doing a off road weekend somewhere at some pint soon.
below are some pics from the event taken by one of the photography guys onsite, I am the one in the sunglasses,
heres the link for all the photos from the days - [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Impressive moves by the blind guy?
Looks like you had a ball. I'd be up for attending something like this again.
Eddie990 (or whatever he's called now) organised one a few years ago and it was great fun.
Cheers

Re: Off road expereince day - enduroland
I was the only one wearing sunnies that day, Had to ave em on as a canne see with out them and I would be blind, would have crashed sooooooooo much.
The guys running the day are looking to host more of these days around the country so will post anything up if I get any emailed info.
Just got back from Romania and would have loved to have had some dirt bikes out there, you can ride where ever you want!
