1 week to Assen, HELP!!
First topic message reminder :
As the title suggests in a weeks time I'm embarking on my first Euro Tour (yeah we'll call it a tour) and I've found that I'm not the slightest bit prepared.
Apart from notifying my insurance I've done nothing at all in prep for the trip. I plan to get the bike out or a thorough check over of levels pressures and lube this weekend but apart from that and never having ridden in a foreign Country, (not counting Wales ) I really need some help.
What do I need to be aware of, what do I need to take, any laws to bear in mind.
Getting a bit panicky now when I should be excited. Any assistance appreciated chaps

Might be worth letting your bank know where you're going just in case you need to use a card in an emergency.

Once you've got
on the bike you might want to consider topping up the tyre pressures?
Just a thought. Have a great trip!

Re: 1 week to Assen, HELP!!
One of the other lads has a repair kit but when I had new tyres fitted I paid extra for the tyre seal, it will seal a hole up to 6mm and was £10 a tyre. He had a tyre there and gave me a demo of how it works and I was impressed enough to give it a go.weasley wrote:Puncture repair kit? I take one on long trips, just in case.
The demo was inflated to 50psi and had about 25 holes in it where he had demonstrated it by knocking a nail into it and pulling it out. Fingers crossed if I get a puncture it'll do the job

PHI? Wouldn't have thought so for this, travel insurance will cover any eventualities

Just make sure you're covered (in the small print) to be riding a bike over 125cc

Just curious, will you know if you have had a puncture if it self seals? Could this be of concern?

If you drop your bike & break the foot peg or anything else, just remember not to tell the RAC you've had an accident!
Have a great time Steve, ride safely and take loads of pics.

Re: 1 week to Assen, HELP!!
Hi guys really appreciate all of your comments, tips and advice, I was just wondering can anyone tell me categorically if the bulb kit law in Europe or just a suggestion. I'm just thinking that otherwise between the 9 of us there's a lot of glassware making the trip.
A few have said they're not even bothering and I don't know what to do, it's not like we'll be riding at night and I've got spare indicator and tail light bulbs. If the sidelight bulb went I don't think I could change it at roadside, the whole light has to come out doesn't it ??

Re: 1 week to Assen, HELP!!
To be honest with you, I've never bothered with spare bulbs when riding abroad for the same reason.
Also IF you get a tug from the politie in Holland it aint gonna be to check if you have spare bulbs However, if they have the arse with you, it'll just be a minor misdemeanor to add insult to injury.
It's up to you though
Have a quick squint at this
And above all . . . . Chill out, ride safe and have a bloody great time

Re: 1 week to Assen, HELP!!
Take ear plugs for the race, the 1000cc Moto GP bikes are louder than the 800's and the Moto 2's howl the most wonderful noise down the straights. Enjoy [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Re: 1 week to Assen, HELP!!
ASSEN IS HERE!!! Finally after what seams like forever the day has dawned, really excited and after the ahem "meeting" in the pub last night with the lads the anticipation is finally over.
All docs ready, bike just needs cleaning and bag packing, looks like a shitty ride up with the weather but that won't spoil it.
Thanks for all your comments on here chaps and I'll be back in a couple of days with full report.
There's free wifi in the hotel so might sneak a cheeky pic or two on here
