Surf and Turf - Saturday 29th September 2012 - Lakes, Dales & Dragons
First topic message reminder :
Folks,
A heads up for this years S'n'T, as has become the custom it'll be the last weekend in September, we have booked the bunkhouse here;
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
Good food, good beer and it's own waterfall (highest unbroken fall in England)
They also have B&B rooms for those that fancy it and camping for the brave amongst us (could be chilly in Sept!)
B&B is £40 pppn
For the bunkhouse its looking like £13 - £15 pppn or £16 - £20 with breakfast included.
We've booked the bunkhouse for as many people that want to come (I'm sure he said it can accommodate 50!) but if you would like one of the B&B rooms or camping etc. please get in touch with either me or terry lees and we'll deal with the landlord direct. I'm probably your best bet, by the time Terry has finished typing a reply we'll be booking for S'n'T 2013!
We may be able to organise some live music, there might be a BBQ, there will be some great roads and the usual apres-ride activities
Details will follow shortly.....

Re: Surf and Turf - Saturday 29th September 2012 - Lakes, Dales & Dragons
Hi Chris, As previosly mentioned Pete, Bob Richardsons brother will be joining us for S&T, for those members attending WMac and B/Mick he is the little old guy, (yes Ross he's actually smaller than me) riding an old R reg silver Honda VFR. One or two of you might have noticed that he's just a bit handy on that old thing. At the moment he's in the IOM practicing for the Manx GP. Nowadays he only rides in the Classic races, I think this is for machines older than 20 years, and as last year he will be contending the 250cc 2 stroke/350cc 4 stroke classic race. I doubt he'll finish in the top 15, but I know last year he did consistent laps of approx 95mph! Not bad eh. on a 20 odd year old 350cc Honda 4 stroke twin, piloted by a 68 year old geriatric (sorry about that bit Pete if you get to read this) So when you recognise the old duffer at this years S&T raise a glass. Incidentally for those of you who follow this event, his son Roy also races in the classics, and last year (I might stand to be corrected here ) won all four of the races he entered.!

Back to my post re- Manx GP and Pete (the old duffer on the VFR 750) in the 250cc race he came 6th and in the 350cc he came 4th. His son Roy won 1 race and had to retire in 2 others.

Re: Surf and Turf - Saturday 29th September 2012 - Lakes, Dales & Dragons
Terry is sorting the route Ellie, think it will be about 200 and there are several options that it can be extended/reduced on the day according to weather, hungoveredness, etc.

Re: Surf and Turf - Saturday 29th September 2012 - Lakes, Dales & Dragons
Hi Snowcat, I think people will start arriving perhaps from 5.00 pm onwards, but no hard and fast rule, I only live about 20 miles away and aim to be there early to welcome as many people as possible, and guide them to their accom. Note to myself not to start drinking too early otherwise will be phishhed by 8.00. Look forward to meeting you, and apologies if we've met before, and I've forgotten !

Yup, north first, then west, then south, then southwest after that it becomes a bit wiggly.

Re: Surf and Turf - Saturday 29th September 2012 - Lakes, Dales & Dragons
Minimum 180 there is'nt a maximum. A lot will depend on the weather, and peoples feelings, and how the day goes in general. If all goes well the aim will be to be back in Settle for about 4.00 pm. Those that are perhaps geeting a little tired, or had enough, could take a more direct route back to base,( about 25 miles) whilst those with a little more stamina could opt for a more extended ride of up to another 70 or 80 miles, I can tailor the final segmant of the ride to suit the majority. There are many options. Waderyall think?
