Surf and Turf - Saturday 29th September 2012 - Lakes, Dales & Dragons
First topic message reminder :
Folks,
A heads up for this years S'n'T, as has become the custom it'll be the last weekend in September, we have booked the bunkhouse here;
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
Good food, good beer and it's own waterfall (highest unbroken fall in England)
They also have B&B rooms for those that fancy it and camping for the brave amongst us (could be chilly in Sept!)
B&B is £40 pppn
For the bunkhouse its looking like £13 - £15 pppn or £16 - £20 with breakfast included.
We've booked the bunkhouse for as many people that want to come (I'm sure he said it can accommodate 50!) but if you would like one of the B&B rooms or camping etc. please get in touch with either me or terry lees and we'll deal with the landlord direct. I'm probably your best bet, by the time Terry has finished typing a reply we'll be booking for S'n'T 2013!
We may be able to organise some live music, there might be a BBQ, there will be some great roads and the usual apres-ride activities
Details will follow shortly.....

Pah - In Scotland we call that a light shower.
Seriously - it looks pretty bad on the news reports I've seen.
Hope y'all escape the worst of it.
I take it this means the route may remain a bit fluid
If there is any 'local' knowledge of any road closures etc that those attending may need to know for their journey please let us know.
I'm booked in anyhoos so I'll see you in the pub

I'm coming up Friday and it was going to be my plan to leave about 10am and have a poodle about on the way up - try and avoid the A1.

Don't think I'll be able to leave work early. Hoping to team up with BillyW and his mate Sickboy enroute. Will try and get there before it gets dark but not holding out too much hope.
Will try and "catch up" in the pub.
Cheers

Don't suppose your toiletry bag folds out into full biker outfit with base layers and a crash helmet??

An electric toothbrush & an inspector gadget toiletry bag still isn't cutting the mustard. I'll put a shower cap in too

At last its stopped raining, and the forecast for fri. and sat. is good. A new natural feature has appeared in the dale, the locals have named it "Lake Wensley" !

Re: Surf and Turf - Saturday 29th September 2012 - Lakes, Dales & Dragons
Hi all, as mentioned in a previous post we will be stopping for lunch in Windermere, at the Oakthorpe Hotel. The hotel is situated just off the A591 and only about 200 yds from the town centre, there's a small car park and plenty of on road parking. There's a small bar with hand pump real ale, tea coffee and soft drinks are all available. For those that fancy a snack, I have arranged various sandwiches to be available, and the owner has kindly offered to make up some lamb broth. The sandwiches will be £4.95 per plate and the broth £4.95, if you have both it will be £7.95. Whilst I appreciate that this is'nt cheap, its below what you would nomally pay in a touristly place like Windermere, and I can vouch for the quality of the food. (we regularly have breakfast here on a Sunday morning) I don't need to know what you want or indeed if you want anything untill friday night, I can then compile a list and phone it through to the hotel. For those that are meeting up with us on Sat. would you please let me know before Fri. night.

I was once offered super sex and went for the soup too Terry.
Probably best if I stick with the soup.

Roads have dried out and the lake is slowly going down, just a few isolated showers during the day.
