Colour check...
Just a quickie, I'm in the process of fitting a single seat cowl to the bike and just wondered what you folks thought the colour of it should be before I get it sprayed. It's only primed at the moment but needs filled in a couple of places before getting prepared and painted properly...

I'm thinking the white will be fine but then I was also thinking red might be nice? If you follow the lines of the bike then technically it should be red, but that might look daft. Anyone think different?
Also will be getting the hugger stripped back to black as the previous owner had a go at painting it red but it's just flaking off now and looks terrible.
Cheers for any help/advice.

Re: Colour check...
If your bike is red and white I'd personally go with red. But saying that your rear seat trims are white and I think technically they should be red anyway so in its current scheme I'm not so sure??

Re: Colour check...
Deffo Red, your eye automatically follows the line where the red meets the white. Painting it red will give a more natural classy look. I think white will always make the seat cowl look like an add-on.

Re: Colour check...
I'd personally go with red. As the upper diagonal of the bike is finished in red.
Perhaps a white hugger? Personally I'd go with black though, hides the dirt better!

/\ I'm going along with Oldcat's P'shop, just seems to look "right".
However, that hugger definitely needs returning to black!

Re: Colour check...
Cheers mate, I was just trying to do that myself... and failing miserably
What's your vote then Oldcat? You can't just drop and run on me like that :(
I think I'm swaying towards the red now the more I look at it. But still not 100% convinced

Re: Colour check...
Green.
Oh, wait...what?
Red, I meant red.
And definitely black for the hugger; matt rather than gloss too.

Re: Colour check...
Red, but in the interests of pedantry, you'll then have to spray your rear hugger white.

Re: Colour check...
Good luck with the red hugger, must be a nightmare to keep clean.
Mine is matt black with natural oily deposits and gritty bits, it's a total breeze as far as maintaining the look is concerned.
(It came up a right treat last year after I forgot to screw the oil cap back on and ended up with the most waterproof right boot and denim trouserleg ever. Oh, and an MOT failure (a bit of Copex isn't an acceptable substitute apparently) )

Re: Colour check...
Right so I'm just about to drop off the seat cowl for painting and thought I would double check the paint code. So according to Colorrite the paint code should be Vivid Red Cocktail 7, Code 0580 'coz my bike was built in '97 (according to the sticker on the headstock). But that red looks a bit dark? It also says it's for Red/White two tone and surely that's what my bike is?
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
If I select 1998 as the year (as the bike is registered in 1998 but built in '97) then I get Vivid Red Cocktail 1, Code 0121
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
I'm sure it should be VRC1, can anyone confirm?

Re: Colour check...
I am sure yours is VRC1 (2 stage paint), mine is the Vivid Red Cocktail 7 as you say darker and also has a 'metalic' effect (3 stage paint)
