Fuel efficient 'Cat

Can't beat a Cat/Fazer on fuel anyway[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] I've not bought a Trumpet and found how much fuel it drinks Oops sorry Ellie you're not the only one to do that, A friend sold his Cat 6 months ago and bought a St 1050, sorry stole it for what he paid but has been playing with ECU maps, throttle settings, back pressures and god only knows what else in a vain and lost cause to try to recover the missing 20mpg that he's lost on every ride [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Not that I remind him ever [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] . Oh it also chews up rear tyres, he's wife finds it hard to get on the pillon seat and hes also changed the front discs and pads because it does'nt stop aswell as the Cat either[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Any way I've chucked a bucket of soapy water over the Cat and I'll take it for a ride if it rains to wash it off.[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Might even change the oil and filter to show that I care for it. But then I might also change the front and rear pads if the new ones arrive today.[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Fuel efficient 'Cat
I was getting fuel light at 150 -170miles on my Cat, I ovehauled the callipers (new seals, pads etc) and I did 200miles at the weekend with no fuel light coming on. Regular mainenance has it's part to play in fuel economy, as well as smooth throttle control and the New Chanin & Sprocket maybe helping, but there are days you just don't give a about economy and just enjoy the ride.

Split the topic, and gave a new title ...
On the topic of fuel consumption, you may have noticed the MPG in my signature. It gives the average consumption, anyone taking any notice would have seen the number drop yesterday. That's what you get for spending most of the day on the bike and only clocking up about 5 miles!! Was doing a machine control day.
Only been logging for a few weeks, so far the best is 64 and the worst is 46.5.

Hadn't noticed your fuelly in as much just thought it was a graphic. I am now joining up myself, should be interesting to see how mine compares to yours.

Re: Fuel efficient 'Cat
I know its sad but I've kept records of every thing I've done to the bike since I bought it. That includes fuel. Worst fuel 49.73mpg. Best 77.01mpg. Since 06/06/2006 when I bought the bike till 30/12/2011 the bike adveraged 59.78mpg over 76228 miles. It has been heavily played with over that time to get it to run as it does.

Re: Fuel efficient 'Cat
I don't do gallons, just MPT's (miles per tank).
Going easy it's 200 miles, a blast with the lads, about 140.
Anyhoo, had a shocker the other day.
Bike was parked up in the garage since late October with a full tank that cost me just over £17.
It's first full tank of 2012 cost me £24...I used to fill my car up for that.

Re: Fuel efficient 'Cat
I decided to stick the fuelly thing on my sig too \/ (that's meant to be a down arrow...).
Very impressed so far, I haven't got the receipts for my first two fill ups, but I know they were 51 and 52mpg, and my last was almost 54mpg, so very impressed!
I'm hoping a bit of fettling and a good service should see that increase a bit too.

Re: Fuel efficient 'Cat
You know, looking at Fuelly the average fuel consumption on a Cat isn't a massive amount better than my Accord diesel (53mpg compared to 42mpg on the Accord).
I should sign up to find out for sure, since there's only one 2.2 iCTDi listed.

Would be interesting to see how our 'Cats rate, sure there are variations in riding conditions - nothing competitive mind, this is a case of less is more.

Re: Fuel efficient 'Cat
On your Fuelly 'Bikey' page, look at the right hand side towards the bottom of the page and you should see
- Code:
Share your MPG
Share and compare MPG at Fuelly View all badges and stuff you can share
Click on that and chose which 'badge' you want, I chose the small banner, copied the url info and then added that to my profile sig.

Re: Fuel efficient 'Cat
I suppose if I was comuting I would be very concerned about the fuel economy but my Triumphs a weekend toy and I'm not too bothered what mileage to the gallon I get but I did around 200 miles at the weekend and it cost me about £25. Wish my car was that efficient lol.
But I did have a little fun on the Caistor High Street and it's put the fun back in biking for me

Re: Fuel efficient 'Cat
I got my Fuelly in my footer now. Sorry went large!
Did the B664 Upppingham to Market Harborough yesterday evening, with the low Sun it wasn't fun. On the way back was better with the sun behind me.
You both would love this road.

Re: Fuel efficient 'Cat
Sounds cool
We did the Lissington bends on Saturday too which I love.
The road from Chesterfield to Ollerton via Nether Langwith & Cuckney isn't too bad either.

Bloody fun 2500 miles tho lol.
Re: Fuel efficient 'Cat
Just as a matter of interest I get 46mpg out of my FJR 1300, and it never seems to alter no matter what sort of riding I do.

Re: Fuel efficient 'Cat
Maria had her 1st proper ride last week when we did a mini tour with friends.
My ZX6 was doing 60 - 65mpg and Maria's Cat was doing 65 - 70 mpg.
Probbably due to Di as she was a bit slow on her GPZ500.
We all did 153 miles without hitting reserve which is a record of me
