Well step 1 done, cover off and the bike starts! That been a worry the last 6 weeks, every time I tried to go out the battery was flat :( New type of heated grip controller, so hopefully the problem is now a thing of the past.

Now putting gear on, and going out - I'm only going to the shops!! Will see what it's like when I get on the bike, might go for a ride first. Best I pour some IPA in the tank, think it right for a bit of icing

It's very grey looking over towards Matlock way, but it is high cloud and not that naughty leaky type as gets yer wet wet wet.

So dull and cold but not looking like it's gonna get damp.

Well instead of turning left to the shop I turned right at the gate and headed off for a ride. Thank goodness the clouds weren't incontinent, the misty patches and damp roads made up for it though. I was a very good boy and didn't hoot at the car in front of me which didn't move when the lights turned green, I waited for the driver to finish snogging her boyfriend, she did it at again at the next lights but I didn't care as I took a slip road.

A 60 mile trip to the shop sounds about right, and a 3 mile ride home

Well, I went all the way to Wales today. Took a mate over to collect a bike he'd bought on eBay - an old Honda 750, no screen, no heated grips, no mod cons at all.

As I watched him shivering back along the M4 I felt really sorry for him - from the comfort of my cosy car.
