engine cuting out off the throttle
Hello people. Not been around for a while but needed some pointers to sort out a problem.
My 'cat is cutting out off the throttle, could be dying but it seems to be straight out cutting out. Starts okay, but I need to stay on the throttle to keep the engine running. Runs perfectly but rolling off the throttle to an intersection or for a stop and the engine cuts out. Keep on the throttle and it's fine. It can be a bit of a bugger to restart (but nothing wildly embarrassing!) but then she's away again.
I've tried adjusting the idle speed but that doesn't resolve the problem. Any ideas?

Hope it is an easy and cheap fix. I'm sure there are plenty on here interested to know the outcome. Keep us posted please.

The local bike shop said he hadn't the tools etc (only does scooters now) but reckoned it'd need the carbs balancing. The Yamaha dealers in't big town reckoned the same thing. It's booked in for next Thurs, soonest I could get. So I'm bikeless for a week.

Re: engine cuting out off the throttle
Resolved. Cleaning and rebalancing the carbs, changing air and petrol filters (plus sundry bits etc) did the trick, so sounds like crap in the lines somewhere. All for €125 (around £110), so I'm chuffed. Plus they stuck around an extra 4 litres of fuel back in!
I don't know what UK bike shops are charging these days but on the few occasions I've taken the bike in, I've found the charges very reasonable. Perhaps the think I'm going to trade the t'cat on something shiny and new!
Btw, did you know that a 'joint torique' is an o-ring? I didn't! Weird language sometimes is French.
