Noise when starting
Finally got the bike running after my issue with the sticking/jammed starter motor.
Juast one more issue I need the memberships vast knowledge on.
When the bike is turning over by the starter motor is sounds rough, a clicky clanky sound.
When it fires up and runs, it's a sweet as it's ever been.
So obviously it's an issue with the cogs from the starter. It's not the starter as I replaced it, and then as a check put the old one back in and the sound was consistant.
So any advice on what it might be and how bad. As I say it's only when starting it, so if its worn cogs or missing/damaged teeth etc is that fixable or a new engine?
I suppose that's why the starter jammed in the first place?
I'll run it anyway until it is a major problem.
Hopefully, I'll catch up with some of you soon.

Sounds like the starter sprag clutch may be slipping. Not sure how big a job this is on the Cat.

Hi pete any joy sorting this out? I am not too sure what it is & could do with hearing it. You want to meet up one evening & i will have a listen to see if i can do anything or point you in the right direction at least.
I would like to see the new custom bodywork in the flesh as well.
Paul.

Re: Noise when starting
Hi Paul
I've got to get it taxed and MOT'd first. As soon as I'm on the road we can hook up.
It still sounds rough, but it starts straight away so it's only for a second.
I'll be in touch.
Cheers
Pete
