Re: Ride to Work Day 2011
Unlikely.
I am an everyday rider taking my bike in all weather except the deep snow - reckon I have only not ridden to work about 7 times since last October but have a very sore face after an op yesterday and have stitches from my cheek up past my left eye that dont come out til next Wednesday. Not been on the bike for about 32 hours now and I am getting withdrawal symptoms already but no way I am getting the lid on without extreme pain and possible stitch ripping

Re: Ride to Work Day 2011
Any day is a ride to work day.
It just depends on the hardware I have to carry.
I have remote access from home to most of the sites I support these days, so I don't get so many calls to bung a laptop etc. into my daysack and head out on the bike as I used to. :?
i.e. Got a printer fault at Gleneagles to attend a couple of years ago and parked the Cat up between a Ferrari and a Lamborghini.
(My bike was probably worth less than one of their wheels ..but I was taller )
How the other half live, eh?
I'd rocked up to the main entrance..apparently it wasn't the done thing, but they were pretty cool with it.
..not as cool as some of the drink they were serving though, I'm talking exotic fruit floating in the most expensive spirits imaginable.
Looked tasty as hell..
Sweat was lashing out of me by the time I got there, which may have coloured my vision a wee bit, but I was herded off in the direction of their stables, where the fault was. So I didn't get the chance to order one. :/]
..that's something on my 'to do' list..head back up there and order that drink.

Re: Ride to Work Day 2011
Luckily it wasn't Ride to work week and the weather was rank rotten.
I think it's fair to say it's been a bit busy since last Monday LINK
All I needed was call-outs for Thurso and Ullapool and I'd damn near have the full set.
p.s. That Carrbridge to Elgin road is a cracker (on a par with the Tyndrum to Oban road) and the long road back is even better if you hang a left at Bridge of Avon through Glenlivet, Tomnavoulin, Knockandhu and Tomintoul. By the time you hit Braemar you have all the twisty stuff out the way and you can get a good blast through Glenshee.
....apart from the middle bit on the road down from the ski resort that is.
Don't have any footage from the bike, but I dug out the camera a couple years ago and shot this wee bit until the car started bottoming out/lifting off the road and the camera started bouncing between the dash and the windscreen.

Re: Ride to Work Day 2011
Last years Big Mac was based in Braemar so the run by the ski resort was done a couple of times.
Here are a couple of my stills:

Re: Ride to Work Day 2011
Nice pics.
Glenshee is a cracking ski area if they get the coverage.
It looks more barren without snow than it does when it's 3m tall at the sides of the road.
(A good ski season with plenty of cover and the place is mobbed. Traipsing the full length of the car parks in ski boots to buy a day pass is a pain in the ass though. :rite: )
What did you make of the ride between Spittal of Glenshee (the hotel there is pretty good, they make an effort for the summer tourists) and the resort area itself?
..On the way down it's easy to belt it, but I found and had to ride the back brake a lot to keep the nose down on the crests.
(I've seen a lot of coffee and soup hitting the roof in Ford Transit minibuses on that road when we were heading home. )

TBH I can't remember. I think we only came back that way on the Sunday ride out after visiting one of the lochs.
Which was :

And the loch itself:

Basically it was a cracking weekend in which I did around 1500 miles, after only been back on the bike for four months! Talk about in at the deep end.
