locks??
ok, when on a weekend rideout, do any of you take locks etc for the bike, or do you have alarms or what ???
mine isnt alarmed, and the lock i use at home is too heavy and bulky to carry, so when out for the day i usually rely on the steering lock and the fact that its daylight.just not sure if that will be enough overnight away from home?

Re: locks??
Never had any probs at BC, mainly cos its in the middle of nowhere & I'm always aware that there are plenty of bikes worth more than mine nearby if a thief takes his chances.
That said nothing is guaranteed

Fnarr fnarr!
I'm sure you'll be fine at BC without a lock. However, a little disc lock fits nicely under the seat (there's even a little rubber strap to hold it down) and gives me a bit of peace of mind if I leave it somewhere dodgy-looking like a city centre.
My 'cat has an alarm/immobiliser so I probably won't bother putting my disc lock on at BC. If it puts your mind at rest, give me a shout when I get there and I'll lend you mine.

Re: locks??
Chances are, if someone is going to steal it, they'll humph it into the back of a van instead of going to the hassle of busting locks and riding it away.
My Meta alarm turned out to be a major hassle and resulted in a total strip out and replacement of the wiring loom.
Never bought a disc lock either because of the almost inevitable faceplant if the wee curly plastic wire that clips onto the handle bar breaks, gets ignored, or is missing altogether.

Re: locks??
pete..thanks mate, and chris, that might be an offer i cant refuse, just as i dont know where the bunkhouse is in relation to the carpark, so might give me peace of mind. you're on the campsite too arent you?

Re: locks??
yeah, i'll be at the campsite as early as I can be - hopefully before about 4pm.
wooster's right though, if the toerags want it, they'll have it and no amount of alarms, locks, gps trackers, and whatnot will stop them. i wouldn't bother with anything wired into the bike, but as mine was there when I bought it and it helps keep my insurance down i'm letting it stay... for now!

Re: locks??
So if I summarise correctly.... at the 'campsite'....
Ross is going let Cath have his big one;
Cath 'doesn't know where the bunkhouse is in relation to the car park';
Chris has a little one he keeps under his seat with the rubber strap;
Wooster says they'll just humph it in the back of a van; :cyclops:
and
Cards is having battery problems.
This could be a memorable weekend. Did we mention the initiation ceremony?
Glad I'm not camping
PS this is meant to be harmless fun and should not be taken seriously - I'm just a 'benevolent sexist' :tongue:
