Nelspruit/Barberton/God's Window
So, this is it fellow forummers, I'm taking the Cat for her fisrt long haul with two other buds to our grand tour of the mountains of Mpumalanga tomorrow. Everyone's welcome to come if you can make it to my place in Kensington, Johannesburg by 9am on Friday. (I know, I know)
Free accommodation in some top establishment, swimming pools, some dazzling corniche-type roads on a legendary route with astounding scenery ...... and the weather is holding good cause it's a cloudless 30 deg C today. About 1200kms approx all in over 4 days. Can't bloody wait. I'll post some pics to Oldcat or Stevecat when I get back.

Re: Nelspruit/Barberton/God's Window
That is something I always wanted to do by bike and nearly did 25 years ago, but was talked into going to Cape Town instead on the understanding we'd (me, a mate and his wife) do Eastern Transvaal (Mpumalanga these days) the following year. Needless to say it never happened. I did however get up there, but was in a 1300 CiTi Golf.
Tried to rekindle the idea last time I was in SA, but me trying to get a bike (I refuse to rent a BM or Harley) and my mates going on about tyre wear etc. the plan died a nasty death.
Thanks for the advanced warning Have a safe trip and I know you will enjoy it, hope the weather holds and you get to see the view from God's Window (was cloud when I was there), watch out for the Khaki brigade.
I hope that you'll enjoy it so much you'll want to do it again in a few years and I might just join you
