Insurance
First topic message reminder :
After initially agreeing to pay £374 for my bike insurance -I was just dying to ride it after I passed my test on Monday , so would have paid anything ! I've cancelled that insurance and have been qouted £133 fully comp +basic recovery +free legal fees by MCE . This sounds a really good deal to me ,does anyone think I could better this ? I think this is effin good :whoop:

Mines with Swinton and has been since i passed and find them reasonable, but you only ever find out how good an insurance company is, if u make a claim........hopefully this will never happen!!
Re: Insurance
Yes that's true Ellie , I can't even imagine what it would be like coming of a motorbike and I'm hoping I'll never fine out ! I'm with Adian Flux but got the Quote via Bikesure.

I think bikesure are the brokers ? Not 100% on that , but I used this website and it's the one I got £110 with although I'll be damned if I actually know who I'm insured with Also if you go to Links , I've posted loads of links to insurance websites - save you having to do a lot of surfing.
either/or john - i did it through the adrian flux one but they're one and the same company so it don't really matter - i've been with them since i started and they've not been beaten yet on price when i've looked - spoken to a couple of people who have had to make claims through them and they've been well impressed including one person who claimed for dropping his lid he said they were no problem at all - in fact i've now switched the house insurance to them too as they were the cheapest on that tho that may be because of me having the bike with them.
Anyone got any idea offhand on best price for classic bike insurance at all? Hoping to sort out the Frantic this year so i'll need to think about that too i've not asked if Adrian Flux do it

Re: Insurance
Suzie , shortly after I wrote my post about not being sure who I was insured with , I got a txt from Adrian Flux , welcoming me as a new client .Anyway the path was Bikesure website - which led me to Adrian Flux ,although the insurance certificate says KGM !they are well known in the industry and they do Cars too . I have my Contents and Building Insurance with Sheila's Wheels I'm with them for a second year now as their renewal was cheaper than anuone elses - Normally renewals are crap and I end up changing. What is Frantic ? Do you have another two wheeled friend ?

Re: Insurance
Yep mine is KGM too - they email me a covernote every month = haven't quite worked out why yet - last year they emailed and posted me one every month in addition to the years insurance certificate they must be cutting down on postage this yearespaceman3 wrote:Suzie , - which led me to Adrian Flux ,although the insurance certificate says KGM !they are well known in the industry and they do Cars too . As for Frantic = yes i do have another 2wheeled friend although i doubt she's talking to me as she's been in my parents' garage - the Frantic B*stard - or to give her her more correct title a 250 Francis Barnett been in the family from new in 1964 - she's older than me!!!

Wow , I don't know what it is , but anything that old must be very interesting and obviously have a bit of history behind it.

Also with KGM although via different brokers (Kwikfit / Express Insurance). Seems to be OK, but then I haven't claimed.
Have the same cover as has been mentioned, but elected to declare I don't have an alarm or lock (which I do) and living in the Big Smoke all adds a bit, at £130 I was happy enough.
First year I was with Bennetts because they were the only ones that would honour my South African NCB, at renewal Bennetts increased the premium and the rest dropped from silly money to reasonable.

Hi Steve , I dd the same declared that I don't have a lock or alarm - But that's because I really don't ! It is datatagged - not 100% sure how that worksSteveCat wrote:espaceman3 wrote:...although the insurance certificate says KGM !

Re: Insurance
Datatagging won't prevent the bike from being nicked, but should thwart the thieves from selling the bike as 'spares'.
A good lock isn't a bad thing to have. There are quite a few on the market, but apparently many are easily broken by a determined thief. I can get mine under the seat along with the rest of the paraphernalia.
From my experience an alarm is a handicap. Mine has only ever gone off at petrol stations whilst on group ride outs or when I'm trying to clean the bike (so much for Ferry mode). It's getting taken out the next time the bike is at the garage.

Re: Insurance
Steve , I agree about the alarm , I don't think I'll put an alarm on as they are a pain in the you know what . I'd consider an immobiliser on it's own if thats possible , at the moment I'm only using it to commute and my work car park is really safe - not accesible to the public . Other than that it stays in my garage and if anyone tries to break in I'll set the kids on them

Re: Insurance
only reason mine is still on is because every time i get the required £80 to remove it i have something better to spend it on - and actually it doesn't make a lot if any difference on my insurance anyway apparently

Re: Insurance
I'm getting the removal for a bargain then :o £50
When its out I'm going to fit a Security LED from Maplin, a whole 4 squid - might even splash out on a relay so it only flashes when the ignition is off.
